REVIEW: FERRY CORSTEN GUVERNMENT

Yo that fucking sucked... it was more packed than.. well fuck it was packed. The music was awesome, everywhere..... but you couldnt damn breath, and the lineup for coat check was brutal. Had there been a fire or somthin, we'd have all died.

Ferry A+
The Guv F

Anybody else share my opinion?

Posted by Endlesswave on Mar-14-2004 09:37:

I agree, Guv should have made it all access...meh. Guv was rammed and I didn't expect any less. If only Ferry were in KH at a seperate time and Digweed was on another date, things would have been better. Ah wellz. Music ROCKED. (didn't except any less). Crowd was alright, stage was where it was at. Shout outs to everyone I talked to. proper review later...

P.S. Ray <----------------It was CRUSH I SWEAR IT!

coat check, 55min wait!!!

kid vicious was best part of the night for me becuase there was still room to dance and he played a really nice set. My only complain, no urban!!

sleep time for now, longer review tom

Guv is an F on any special event.. I stay away.. cause when I go, despite the amazing crew that are TAs, the night invariably ends up sucking, mostly due to the crush of ppl that make me feel like I am in a human carwash.. with sweaty shirtless idiots, you certainly aren't getting any cleaner.. *shudder*

My review of Ferry Corsten @ Guv:

Well, the lineup was nice. Holy Fuk that was a crazy line, me and my friends didnt feel like staying in line for 2 hours and being squished inside after the wait so we decided to jet rather than park and go wait in the line. i was dyin to see corsten though, what a bummer ..

Posted by j_spot on Mar-14-2004 10:22:

I dont feel so bad for not going now
not that I did to begin with, but thats about what I expected, and its what happens every time...

Posted by Walter Mindz on Mar-14-2004 11:18:

Wow... what a night!!! Ferry was amazing!!! I'll give a review later.

Posted by rabbitjoker on Mar-14-2004 11:20:

Thumbs up

HOLY SHIT!

Kid Vicious drops about 10 of the current top 20 trance tracks - and all this before 12:30!!!!

HOLY SHIT!!

Ferry Corsten plays the most killer new music. Tonights track selection was Ferry's best IMO (better than I've ever seen him live in TO). Friggin blew my mind with some of those toons. I just got home and he was dropping some amazing electro stuff when I left - so he easily had a 5 hour set going on there. AWESOME!

HOLY SHIT!!!

A whole whack of TAs were @ Ferry - good to see you all and chat. Carlos and Corinne - you're the best!

HOLY SHIT!!!!

I am VERY glad I changed my flight to leave today instead of Friday (like it was scheduled). Tonight was 11/10 in my books and another reason why Ferry is one of my favorite DJs.

HOLY SHIT!!!!!

it was murder!!! proper review later

Posted by tatgirl on Mar-14-2004 12:44:

That was THE most crowded I've seen Guv in a long time.... a big 'fuck you Guv' for that. Totally rammed sauna. If it weren't for the good company of TA's I know, I would've had a shit time. I know many who left early.
Ferry played a great set. No sign of Mark Oliver on the decks at all tonite. Ferry just kept going... called it quits at 7am. Coat check line went to the bathroom by then. Good thing I thought in advance.
Great to see all y'all there, esp. Malek. Welcome back Silke.

FUK FUK FUK.... IM POSTING IN ALL CAPS BCUZ IM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW. GUVT SUCKS, END OF REVIEW.

Posted by starsearcher on Mar-14-2004 12:59:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWHA....
SLOW DOWN THERE NOW...
First of all...It wasn't any different than any other special event so stop complining all of you We all know how guvernment gets...I have no idea how Kool Haus was though so I won't comment...

In any case...My night started off really bad...seems like nothing was going right till I finally got inside...and then...

OMG!!! Ronald was RIPPING the place apart he played some incredible tunes, and so many I've never heard before...what a warm up!!! (Anyone knows what was that track at 12 midnight with the silence...???)

Ronald gets 10/10 from me....REALLY impressive

Then Feery came on...and well what can i say about Ferry....the place just went insane...I looked at some reviews from Aria the night before and I can tell you for sure there were no disapointments here...Ferry seems to be getting better and better and better every time i see him, like many people said tonight...
Tracklisting was amazing, crowd control and mixing top notch...and not to mention being the nicest guy in the biz...

Ferry gets 15/10 and that's an understatement...

He played a stormer of a set and I left just before the last song as it seems and slipped through the coat check real quick.... *whew*

Anyway...I had an amazing night as opposed to so many complainers...I met so many of the TAs and I just totally had a blast (other than the usual complaints about the guv...hot packed and etc...)

Have many pics will post tomorrow...must sleep

Posted by StereoPrincess on Mar-14-2004 14:10:

All I can say now is that the sound in Guv was SHITE!!!!!!! Like someone forgot to plug in the Phazon or something.

Posted by Skipper on Mar-14-2004 14:20:

I was going to stop by. Glad I didn't.

Posted by DigiNut on Mar-14-2004 14:24:

Same here, I'd been considering it. Sounds pretty much like the same old routine at the Guv, a reminder of why I can't be arsed to make the drive in these days.

Well, to those who did go, hope it was slightly more positive than the reviews would indicate. Pics anyone?

Dood! Go re-read my review.

Last night was awesome. Yes the guv was crowded - but Ferry's wikkid set made it all worth it.

Smiley DJ Awesome night

That was one of the best nights ive had at guvy, ferry was just reading my mind and shreading it to pieces, banger after banger, just relentless.... all you fools that didnt' come missed out out on a 7 and a half hour set and he was bang on all night. Hard Trance, Trance, Electro, Techno and even a dirty house track, guvy was rammmed but things eased up a like 2 or 3.
Night 10/10
Ferry 16/10 The guy is amazing...
At the end he annouced hes coming back for Labour of love.

Posted by UWO Tranceaddict on Mar-14-2004 15:16:

Why dont you cry about it.....

That was one of the best guv nights ever.

Ferry played until 8:22am it was absolutely crazy at the end , the guv was still packed with the die hards.

Didnt see too many sketchbags. And ya it was crowded, but when is it not?

When he did the encore of Rock your body before the lights went on the crowd went nuts.

What a great fuckin guy.

100/10 for all the whiners.

Amazing Nite!!!

Completely Amazing Nite...for all those that said glad i didn't go...well you guys really missed out...guv was rammed as always...that aspect sucks, but me and my girlfriend moved our way around to find open gaps hear and there and sometimes actually had some breathing room. Anyways, Ronald Van Gelderen dropped a killer set...didn't know what to expect from him,but it rocked...it was wicked walking in guv at 11:30 and already a big dj on the decks!!! When he dropped Dreas - Havannah...I knew it would be a good nite!!! And wow, Ferry Kicked fuckin Ass...Starting the Set with Kyoto and moving into solid globe - sahara, and then into kyau vs albert - velvet morning (aalto remix) Wow Life Couldn't of been better at that point...3 phenominal tracks in a row...And lots of other great stuff throughout the nite. I was really happy he came on at a reasonable hour...so i didn't have to wait around the whole nite for him to come on. We left around 3- 3:30, so caught about half his set...definately enjoyed what we heared.

RVD - 10/10 (awsome warmup)
Ferry 10/10 (some mixes were cheap crossfades...but on the most part, great mixing and track selection)
Guv 5/10 (keeping people waiting for 20minutes so we had to pay $20 instead of $15 wasnt cool)

Posted by ryanm on Mar-14-2004 16:29:

sounds like a good night. People should stop complaining about coat check line and how packed it was. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS....just read the old threads. Sorry I couldn't be there guys but I know you all had a good time. See you soon.

Posted by DarkWater on Mar-14-2004 16:37:

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmm MMMMMMM GOOOOOOOOD

Posted by TrueToTheCrew on Mar-14-2004 17:27:

R U guys messed

That was the best nite ever at guv. ferry spins 8 hours. Although would of liked to hear MO too.

A few bad people in the crowd but I was happy.

Got to chill with Corsten while he was spinning and accidentally spilt champagne on his arm while trying to pour our glasses for a toast.

A big thanks to all who made it happen.

Amazing.

Posted by goodnet on Mar-14-2004 17:31:

Ferry spun until 8:22 AM??? FUCK. FUCK FUCK FUCK!

MUSIC:
The music was fucking amazing, no doubt about it. Kid Vicious's "opener" already had me going crazy. I think i heard that track which suposedly inspired Urban Train but can't remember the name! I must agree with everyone here - Ferry indeed kicked some ass.

Crowd/Venue:

See above posts! Very hot, air was unbreathable around 3. 'Had to chill on the patio for awhile to breathe in normal air and relax ('met a couple cool TA dudes @ the patio. Cheers waltermindz!) Meeting more tranceaddicts all around the place for the first time was pretty cool.

- - - -

To my dismay, when i called my friends from the patio around 4ish to check up on them they said they were all inside my car waiting for me. So what could I do... i left early. Hearing that Ferry kicked it until 8 AM when I left at 5 just disapoints me

Posted by Essential1 on Mar-14-2004 17:39:

Good set, pretty much the same crowd, nothing more can be said.

It was just me and my friend which made it much easier to meet all the cool people we did (I don't know how many TAs I talked to, but I was the guy with a mohawk & crazy hick side burns). To everyone I met, it was fun. To everyone I didn't meet, I'll probably see you at Decadence.

Posted by Mr Rogers on Mar-14-2004 17:48:

glad i didn't go.....music was probably good but when its packed that much, i just don't have a good time.
