Charles Nasser, new resident dj @ Extremes, starting friday April 9th

Thats right...
This time its for a Residency.
Its not where I wanted but hey, how can I say no

I'll be doing parts of the friday nights at Extreme's starting april 9th... Now I can'T replace the current DJ like that... with time... I'll be playing more and more... until ... until you know...

Now let's talk about this club.
Its funny how in the radio station thread you guys started to talk about extreme... anyways... you probably know that EXtreme is live on Mix96 (95.9) on friday nights. Thats right, montreal will have the chance to where some good music for once on the radio.
Now I have this problem... I can'T play any too hard shit or pure euphoric tranzy trippy stuff... I'm live on the radio. SO I have no choice but to put cheese ! With time... I'll be playing better songs, let the time to Extreme crowd to be used to my music.

For now... Its planned like I'm doing the openings, and 1 or 2 short 20 minutes blocs during the night when its on the radio. Let's not forget that there's hip hop DJs playing with me..counting 3 in total.

They are playing some dance/house over there and the Italians are not complainning about it so... I think they will like my stuff (unlike other types of crowds)... So I'm gonna be the DJ who is commercializing our popular cheese trance tracks like ATRC, Beautiful Things and those others Gabriel & Dresden tracks, and some Benassi shit like they know... etc.

I don't think my name is gonna be announced on the radio the first night. WHY ? Well its my first night... I am being tested. If the crowd likes it, I'm a resident. If not, **** them. SO thats why its the most important night. I need to have lots of people there for me, all prepared to hear my music... making noise when I'm playing... dancing like crazy mofos !
Hope to see some TAs and bring people. let's fill up this place and show them the people are here for the music... not because its Extremes.

PS: Its no joke... I'm really playing at extremes friday april 9th.

Im gonna try and come up for this since ive never been to Extremes and now seems like a good time to go I hope things go well for you cause it would be really cool to hear some trance in a club.

It sucks.... the dj booth is really not well placed..
the crowd can't see me...
All the hand raising and clapping are no use...
you have to go to the second floor to see me.

Good luck Charlie As much as extremes is lame, I'm sure you can get a lot more good house and maybe a few trance tracks out and onto the radio. I remember I used to listen to that show on Friday nights. Maybe try some trance that doesn't have an enormous slow buildup...

How'd you get the gig anyway?

Anyway congrats again!

flicitations charlie j'suis pas du genre aller aux extremes, mais au pire je te suivrai via le stream internet

after charlie's live gig on the radio, let's all leave a good feedback to mix96 officials and tell them we like it when there's trance airing.
i'm pretty sure it will help him a lot

Thank you Kate

I got the plug from the same promoter that made me spin at Orchid.

This guy is really motivated, and I feel very lucky to have him as a promoter. I hope we both get somewhere good with all this.

Thanks Pat...

I don't know if giving feedback to mix96 helps me out...
I don'T know if Extremes and mix96 are really related... but it will sure help not having mix96 calling extreme to tell them that they don't want to hear this kind of music on the radio.

Its really a good idea

Posted by Deejiuana on Mar-18-2004 03:17:

heh..."uanadeeji" lol...
anyway, good luck again....n c ya there

OK .,.. now you the Italian TAs,

What do you think I should be playing during the peak time...

Dancy/Trancy
Housy/Trancy

my short set during the peak time is the most important part...
If they like it, I'm hired and with time I'll be playing longer sets.
If not, well

Last time I went to extreme , I was like 17-18... and I heard the crap they play on the radio... there's no way I'm playing like this.
the reason they gave me a try out is because I can bring something new

so what do you guys recommand me ?

Posted by rongerabbit on Mar-25-2004 20:46:

Dancy/Housy

play the top 10 tance tunes... don't risk yourself playing anything you have a doubt...

if you're not sure if a track is not the BOMB then don't play it.... people need to be moving at all time

TRANCE CHART DJMR.com
Top 10 Positions / last updated 23/02/2004

No.
1 Incolumis, at the gates/Norhtstone
2 Ferry Corsten, Rock Your Body Rock (rmx)
3 Armin Van Buuren, Burned With Desire (RMX)
4 DJ Virgen, FM
5 Gift, The Seventh Day
6 Various, Hard Trance EP 5
7 Tatana vs the Mystery, Soulcry (Rmxs)
8 Fire and Ice, Samoa / Para Siempre
9 Solar Factor, Fashion Slam
10 Green Martian, Ladies and Gentlemen

not helping at all... lol

I really need the opinions of those who still go to this club.
They know the vibe, the crowd... what they can dance on to.

a short set of 4 tracks during peak time doesn'T allow me to play different styles. I gotta stick to one ...

My opening (starting at 10pm) will be very different. smooth chill out stuff... adding prog house slowly...

Posted by malek on Mar-25-2004 21:12:

hehe i went to extremes but like 3 - 4 years ago

Posted by Deejiuana on Mar-25-2004 22:16:

Something dancy = for sure
but try to play something that the people know or have heard sometime. When ppl know a song, they enjoy dancin on it.
Not saying you should play commercial stuff like benny b, but try to pick something that the people might have heard before.
But then again, wot is it that people might have heard? i dunno...

Like I said... they are giving me a try out because they know I can bring something "new" ... they are not expecting me to play benni b and shit... I even think they are tired of hearing this kind of crap
