Ghost Smilie i just discovered something neat about my behringer djx700

this is cool...

first off i have a stereo that has one rca in. (l and r) so i have to always switch them when i want to listen to music off my computer, and when i am spinning.
so i had this idea to put my rca outs from my computer into the 4th channel of my mixer , and then just leave the mixer connected to the stereo. so i was doin that, that worked.

and then when my mixer was off i accidentaly double clicked on an mp3 file and it was playing through my stereo! so even when the mixer is off it somehow transmits the sound.

i just thought that was cool, hehe. i dont' know if other mixers do this or not...

that is quite cool.
im gonna have to try it with mine now.

hm i just noticed the sound isn't as loud..

but it's cool if you dont' want to leave your mixer on!

It will still be adding wear to the mixer because it will still have that current and sound running through it.

thats how i got my setup, setup.. but my mixer has to be on for the sound to come through...

Yeah, because carrying current really wears out those wires...

Ive tried it with my djx and it doesnt work.
Just switch it off right?? 2 of my soundcards outputs are connected to channel 1 and 4 of my mixer,.. but yeah nothing goes thru when i turn it off.

maybe the pre-amp in that mixer is wired funny, as in it bypasses for digital input as it dont need so much preamping as phono..?? doubt it though, sounds like its just yours that is strange

doesn't work on my mixer

i know the circuit that doest this....or welll i should coz ive studied it.

the signal goes through the mixer and straigt to the output at whatever amplitude it came in at. when the power is on it activates a power amplifier which boosts the signal. the signal does not travel through the amp if i remember right. and also this is ment to be a very very godd way of keeping noise to a minimum as you are never conditioning the waveform.

wish i could remember the circuit....i should look it up.
