Internet broadcasting with Traktor DJ Studio?
Ok, is there any way to broadcast live mixing in Traktor over the internet? I need it for that DJ Source Radio site.

Besides Traktor isn't really that reliable, as sometimes it will screw up on beat matching and other things. I would not trust it, especially if you are using a windows PC. Traktor on a Mac machine is a bit more reliable, but I still would not use it. |
Yes, you can broadcast anything that comes from de linein of your soundcard, just shorcut the lineout with the linein using a simple male minijack -> male minijack in your soundcard, then configure the shoutast plugin to broadcast the linein.

Years ago I used to use a program that was called Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/VirtualAudioCable/. Basically, you installed it and it appears as a virtual soundcard. What you can then do is point the output of one program (in this case, Traktor) to this "soundcard", and the input of a different program (e.g. Winamp linein plugin, via Windows control panel Sounds and Multimedia -> preferred recording device) to the virtual soundcard, and it simply acts as a digital cable, from one program to another. That way, you keep it all digital instead of running a cable from your line out to your line in.
First I would recomment virtualdj (new atomix mp3) over traktor. However, all this stuff should work for traktor as well as virtualdj or pcdj or whatever else. Next I would just send a stream using shoutcast. It's not totally live (it's a bit delayed) but close enough. So here's basically what I do:
I set virtualdj up to use 2 soundcards. One I use for headphones to check out the next song or whatever. Then I send the main output through my speakers. There are other ways to get the preview stuff to work ie an audio spliter or 4 speaker setup, but the 2 soundcard method is the only way that will make it so your listeners won't hear it.
Next I use winamp's shoutcast plugin that you find on their site. Instead of telling it to send to the server what winamp is playing I tell it to send all the output from that main soundcard.
It takes a bit to get it all working but if you use the forums at http://winamp.com etc you should be able to figure it out. Now all you need is a server. The way it works is you send the stream to the server and then the server sends it to everyone else. If your only streaming it to a few people you can run the server on the same machine as everything else and dish it out with your own connection.
Unfortunatly for me I can't open up ports to start my own server so I've never streamed it over the internet, but I have tested it on my local network. Not like I have much to stream anyways
if u just wanna brodcast, use mixmeister, its boring as hell, and takes no skill, but shit always sounds nice

heres what you would do, without cords
Here is where you select your source to stream from,
a PCDJ would select "what u hear" (for soundcard without "what you hear" you can also select wave, wave is mp3 or any other digital audio, but "what you hear" you can mix with pcdj and vinyl or w/e) and a DJ with his/her turntables into the line in port on the computer.
this should be all of the into you need... if you need anymore help contact me [email protected]
