European Newspapers Photoshop Out Some of the Carnage of Madrid Bombings

I thought this was rather interesting:

The blog says it best: "Something to remember the next time you hear somebody say that the European media don't sanitize the truth like those squeamish Americans."

It's not really a big deal, but something about purposefully modifying an image to remove something from existence strikes me as being wrong. Just bubble it up or don't show the picture at all.

Some news organizations wanted to develop an "edited" logo for pictures about 5 years ago. It would have been a tiny symbol that newspapers would have to put in the corner of wire images if they edited them. I thought it was a really good idea, but apparently, newspapers are happier just keeping information from their readers.

i think thats rather shit. it makes what happened not seem as bad as it actualy was. the more people that realise how bad it was (with this and anything else) the more people will want to take stronger action and stop this pussy-footing around.

really anoys me how the media twists things to create controversy. the media were all over bush and blair and only pointed out the bad in everything they have done. i thought the news was ment to show people what was happening in the world....not brainwash. if thats what they want to do then they are no better than the religeous lunaticks that spread poison about killing the west opressors.

I agree, that actually is a pretty good idea. Any type of selective editing without a clear acknowledgement that it's occurred isn't acceptable IMO.
