Should "AMATEUR" be removed from the title of this forum?

Thoughts?

Posted by Luke Terry on Mar-18-2004 23:53:

Cool

yup, from all these bit sections imo, some are amateur, semi-pro + pro so whatever

Posted by Fundamental on Mar-19-2004 00:20:

No. I think it would discourage the newbies (like myself) from posting in here.

Posted by benfica88 on Mar-19-2004 02:31:

How about creating another thread with professional promotion?
The best idea to me is just to make it a amatuer/professional thread. There's a lot of amateurs on there but also a lot of pro's too.Sometimes with the great tracks posted you can't even tell the difference.

p.s. Onde tens andado puto? Nunca-te vejo no EMC. As gajas pem-te muito ocupado l no Canada?

me neither.. think it would work just fine

Posted by Pjotr G on Mar-19-2004 10:43:

or it could be the "crappy music section"

j/k

Posted by iLLicit on Mar-19-2004 11:24:

Yeah, I agree drop the amateur. Some of the tracks posted here are amateur, but there are also a lot of pro-tracks!

Posted by Fractal on Mar-19-2004 11:30:

All amateurs are music producers, but not all music producers are amateurs
It's very easy to understand

Posted by rqpeyruxvg on Mar-19-2004 14:16:

Music producers promotion sounds fine but if anyone wanted to get a bit technical how about two forums one with pro one with amature but that would probablies just confuse things but there could be a sort of promotion rule kinda going on here so you start off in the amature forum then when the amatures get better then you get promoted. Something like that but just to make things simple and no arguments and me getting some stick just keep it simple.

Nice for the thought tho eh?

Tezz

No need for two forums, it will just make things more complicated.

I say leave it as it is now, simple as that. Most of the people who post in the forums are amateurs anyway.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Mar-19-2004 15:38:

Doesn't really matter, either way is fine

Posted by Jay M on Mar-19-2004 16:40:

One forum is just fine. If "amateur" scares off the pro's we should remove it. Music Producers Promotion will do!

Posted by dbl on Mar-19-2004 16:47:

don't think 2 forums (1 for pro and one for amateurs) would work any good, caus there's a big chanse that there will be more people in the pro section listening to those track's that hardly need any comments then for the amateur track's that really need some comments.

I concur. Plus it would be hard for some people to ascertain the difference between "pro" and "amateur." Although I don't think Swamper was going for that...I think it's more of a title as Endre said - "Music producers promotion." Which would suit me just fine, and I think most people wouldn't mind either.

Posted by J.L. on Mar-22-2004 07:34:

yes, and NOTHING else about the title should be changed IMO

Posted by [mart] on Mar-22-2004 12:15:

I personally think it's fine as it is, but that said I really don't mind if you do change it.

Posted by Swamper on Mar-22-2004 17:43:

Its funny..I posted the same poll for Amateur DJs Promotion and the results there are basically the opposite of the ones here - they want to keep 'Amateur' in the title.

So.. it would be awkward to have:

Amateur DJs Promotion
&
Music Producers Promotion

..hmm.

Posted by noikeee on Mar-22-2004 17:55:

imo, yes

the thing with the dj's saying the opposite is that there are a lot more known professional producers posting tracks on here than known professional dj's posting there

Posted by rqpeyruxvg on Mar-23-2004 09:29:

i don't think anyone would really be too bothered about taking amature out of the forums names to be honest...

They must have sand in their vaginas

Posted by extalin on Mar-24-2004 10:35:

i would definitely say to take out amateur from the forum name. there's not really a need for it to be there, and the quality of the forum would go up if more professionals were active in posting, so why not? and there is no need to make 2 forums.. people are smart enough to decide what they like and dont like in the same respects what they decide sounds "pro" or "amateur"...

Posted by tranzMental on Mar-26-2004 17:04:

Hmmm...I guess knock off the 'Amateur', since it won't hurt anybody, hehe.

Posted by oDrori on Mar-28-2004 16:08:

IMO it shouldn't, if it will, should be replaced by "Future" thus it's both alerting and encouraging...
