King I was contacted by two record labels!

After 9 years of producing music and sending out countless demo CDs...

Sunday I opened up my e-mail to find not one, but two e-mails from two semi-large(as for dance music) record companies (sorry I'm not
going to tell which ones, but lets just say one of them is from the UK and one of them is from the US) telling me that they liked my demo and want more material.

Anyone here have this happen to them? How did you respond?

I plan on preparing a 5 song EP to send them, but I only have 2 out of those 5 tracks completed (the rest are just parts and ideas I've put down).

Wish me luck! I feel like I just got my lucky break, but now is when I either make or break it.

I spend like at least A MONTH on making a good track, and these companys always want a few.
I dunno how the feck these remixers make tracks so quick n' shit.

Anyway good luck

I'm a bit jealous

Hope you get signed m8, but ehm, can we find some kind of sample somewhere on the net?

Be Cool!

Excellent news, congrats man =) I've had a couple of similar responses in the past (from Tsunami once even, hehe) and have sent a few things in but gotten no reply thereafter. If nothing comes of it don't be too disappointed, just use it as fodder to make better tunes in the future. Keep at it and the recognition will eventually come. Grats!

Congratulations. If one of us triumphs, all of us do. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the positive replies.

Those of you that want to hear my tracks just go to http://www.mixtapehost.com and search for OSTEEN.

Osteen - Splendor was the one that I had sent out last time that got the responses.

I'll post more tracks later this week (if I can get them finished by then)

Congrats man! U r a nice example of determination to ppl who loses motivation in the long run!

always good news to hear this stuff. i got an email the other day with a guy in L.A. asking me to spin, so i know exactly how you feel.

If you don't get all five tracks done for the EP, send the individual tracks one at a time. This way it looks like you're constantly working on tunes (even if you're not ) and it looks like you're really determined to impress them. Also, if you include a 5 track demo, and they don't like the first song they listen to, chances are they might not listen to the rest of them.

Congrats on the news though man! I received a letter from Armada that said "your productions are good, but they're not what we're looking for right now" and I was thrilled about that! haha
I can only imagine how you feel!

software:
Sonar 2.2 (main sequencer)
FruityLoops 4.51 (I run it as a device inside Sonar)
Reason 2.0 (Use for drum patterns/percussion/special effects)
AcidPro4 (loops and loop editing)
Soundforge 7 (Mastering)
Tons of plug-ins

Hardware:
Roland XP-30 (controller keyboard and for pads)
Alesis QSR (gonna get rid of this soon)
Korg 01R/W (rare rack of the 01/W)
Yamaha TX81Z
Mackie 1202 mixer
Event PS6 monitors
M-audio Audiophile 24/96 soundcard
2 Technics 1200 m3d's
Vestax PCV-275 mixer
Pioneer CMX-3000
Bass guitar
DeArmond M-70 Electric Guitar
Line 6 Pod

I'm selling most of my hardware stuff and going 90% software based. If I was just starting out today I would only buy a controller keyboard and spend all the rest on plug-ins.
