Ok we need arguments against any other forms of music!

There are alot of critics out there! I encounter people everyday that dislike Trance/Techno. They always have simple yet effective arguments
such as "its too repetitive" or "Trance/techno is all the same beats with female vocals" (you can blame that one on Alice.....)jk

But what can we say about other genres

My friend a big "pop" fan is very opnionated I need some arguements to shut his trap

Such as

"every music style has to some extent a repetiveness to it"

thats the one I've been using but its losing its potency

tell him that pop is a helluva lot more repetetive than trance/techno because all the fucking "different" songs are copies of each other, and half of what the music sells on is the performers looks, and tell him to just go shove his copycat music up his ugly ass.

the sad thing about most pop/rock music lovers is that they think that because this music is successful on the sales charts then it's good... that's soooooo god damn stupid....well ofcource it's successful since it's the only thing you hear in 99.9% of the radio and mtv.....

i hate pop music. talk about a lack of diversity. most of their songs are about "i love you" and "you love me" and its sick how much they play that crap on the radio. boy bands are pathetic. artists like britney are pathetic. ok i know this ain't a good argument its more like my rant about commercial pop.

btw i am not a narrow minded trance listener. i don't believe trance listeners are narrow minded at all. i do in fact listen to many other types of music. its just that pop music is no good

Yeah, that's right, some things in this world suck but you can't do anything about it - learn to live with it. Let me list some of the things for you:

Microsoft makes catastrophically bad software, yet everyone use it.

You are aware that people all over the world are fighting over stupid things (a city, a shrine, the right to use a language officialy) but have learned to live without letting it bother your.

The samrt ass - no-depth people - get all the beautiful girls/boys.

Not everyone agree on your divine insight into paintings, music and films.

If you can learn to think "I feel so sorry for him" instead of "that supid ****, why wouldn't he listen to me" then a lot of doors in this world will have opened for you.

Just say to them, "Why the fuck did NSYNC want to work with BT then??" and now Britney the hoe? U listen to their tracks all the music is just the same, Trance is about music and not vocals i rekon.

One more thing i would say is , i'm addicted to trance , i can't stand listening to something else , cuz its my addiction , i guess if someone is addicted to Pop he wouldnt listen to trance.
BUT!
Just take him for once to a rave party and see how he would change his mind!

Yeah, I agree with this. Trying to argue that trance is the best form of music in the world is like trying to argue that green is the best colour, or that chocolate is the best ice-cream: it's too much of a subjective thing. I already went into massive depths on a different topic about why we can't assume that trance is the best form of music, so I'm not going to start again here, but I can sure as hell tell you why it's got a lot more going for it than pop does:

Music should be about aural creativity. It's the art of the ears. I've always said, if a picture can paint 1000 words then music can paint 1000 pictures. I love music as an art, which is why I hate pop music so much.

They don't give a shit about art, or musical ability, or anything else apart from releasing a few million pieces of plastic and making a shitload of money. Virtually none of the artists write their own material, they all get accountants to write it for them, and because the bottom line is to make money with as low a risk as possible, they all end up copying whatever's making it big: so now, for instance, all the bands are going for a Destiny's-Child-esque pseuo-2-Step-R'n'B mash-up. And it all sounds the bloody same:

a) because they all have the same writers writing for them
b) because all these same writers are doing their best to copy each other

Now electronic music is, for the most part, an incredibly creative genre. Sure there'll be the occassional artist who's in it just for the money, like Alice Deejay (or BT ), but for the most part, the artists can't be in it for the money, because electronic music isn't popular enough on a world-wide scale to be genreating that sort of cash. It's purely about the music and it shows: while all pop bands end up sounding exactly the same, you can take the work of two different electronica artists and immediately identify what their particular sound is, even among artists of the same genre. Just look at the euro-trance genre: Ferry Corsten, AVB, VDM, Tiesto, they all have their own unique sound. It's a kind of variety that you don't find anywhere else.

And of course that's just the variety within one tiny sub-genre. Just think of all the other electrnica genres, artists and sounds there are out there, and think about how diverse it is. To your friend who says "its too repetitive" or "Trance/techno is all the same beats with female vocals", play him some AVB, then some progressive, then some Olav Basoski, then some Aphex Twin, then some Hybrid. After you've given him that variety, force him to listen to mtv or FM radio for an entire day, and then ask him whose music is "repetitive" or whose music "sounds exactly the same".

There are no genres I hate more than pop and r'n'b (which is, afterall, just pop music for people who think they're cool) and I'll be glad to twat anyone who disagrees with me.

yeah forgot to mention how huge number of videoclips and posters back-up Pop music or else it wouldn't be famous!
U don't see Djs all over the place in posters and stuff everyday do ya?

tell that fagget that pop music has the same theme in every damn song (love, boyfriend/girlfriend, heartbeaks, shit like that...), and that every song has almost the same beat as the other.... and that pop songs die after a month or 2.... trance tracks can last for years and still be hits....

yeah i know eh? most R&B beats sound alike to me.

Judging from the respect pop-music is enjoying here, you'll probably all be delighted to hear that Aqua has split up
