OS X Soft Synths
List your favorite soft synths for OSX here. Comments and reviews as well. Give your system setup as well.
Here are mine so far.
Absynth 2: Especially when using vocals or drums to create really interesting sounds.
Reaktor 4: When I can get it to work, makes awesome sounds. Heavily evolving textures and sounds.
Logic Synths: ES1 etc. I really like these, great sounds, as well as low cpu usage. The vocoder kicks ass.
Malstrom: Still wanna my favorite synths. I think i have spent way too much time with it. I have like 300 of my own presets for it.
Subtractor: paired with the scream processor, makes some sick sick basslines.
Thats about all I can think of right now, I have had my nose in hardware alot lately.
the only softsynth i have on osx is sampletank 1.1.9 [free].
havent really played with it much so cant give a full review. it is pretty nice from what i've seen so far. i run it thru protools 6.1.2. it also comes in vst format as well.
u can download it and its instruments for FREE from:
http://www.sampletank.com/Main.html?STFreeDwn
it is also free for the windows users as well!
as for my system software setup: protools 6.1.2, ableton live 3.02, sampletank free, audacity [a free osx audio editor]
OSX?
Seems like we have a lot of PC guys on this forum!!
Dave
im thinkin of gettin a powerbook, might be a pretty big step goin from cubase on a pc, to logic on an osx
;/
leaving all my favorite vsti's behind... don tknow if i should or not
Powerbook
Well you could run Cubase on your powerbook if you wanted to. I run logic and cubase actually. Depending on what I want to do. Secondly you can run VSTi inside of logic via a wrapper that
fxpansion makes. Works very well.
If you are still thinking about buying a powerbook, you should give me a ring, I work for an apple dealer in seattle.
Talk to you soon.
