It's sad in Seattle, I've never seen a great set go above 3 hrs, 5 hours would definently fulfill my trance needs. hehe

Question

I'll be there for sure. Hmmm...seeing as how the LA TA's been wanting to do a meet up with Armin before the show, I wonder if he'd be interested in doing a pre-show meet with the SF TA's.

We met him with him last time he was here...albeit for like 15-20 minutes because he didn't have much time!

I know Lynn and I talked to his brother, Eller, more at the club then I spoke to Armin for a few minutes after the gig (which was awesome!).

You all can try if you want...probably too late -- but if you set it up, chances are I won't be able to attend...been having to work late as of late getting ready for E3 in May.

Note the main doors will be opening at 11pm with Armin on the decks!!!

No opening DJ.

oops, wrong post.

So is there gonna be a meetup?? If not, how do you go about arranging one?

Posted by DaveT on Mar-31-2004 04:41:

No meetup.

Far too late to set one up.

With Armin coming on at 11pm, he probably wouldn't be able to do one anyway...

Man, Armin played a brilliant set. With no opener he did a great job starting slowly and buildup it up. He played a few Markus Schulz remixes (Talk like a Stanger and Beautiful Things) along with a few other tracks and basically worked on finishing the initial build with Nathan Fake - Outhouse....then he just got harder and harder, and faster and faster.

I couldn't stop jumping around for the whole 5 hours he played...even when I was running around the floor trying to say hi to peeps...

The crowd was so into it by the time he entered in his second hour of music, and they just got more into it. When he stopped at 4:20am or so, the main room was as packed at the time as I had seen it since last June for PvD....I didn't think Armin would be able to top how packed Ferry was able to have the room at at 4:20am back in late February. The difference then, though, is that Ferry kept on playing because of the crowd and the insanity and played until almost 5:30am, while Armin ended up stopping - I think he was very tired because it looked like there was some discussion for him to play longer.

Anyhow, met Dave Lewis and talked to him a ton - very down to earth, mellow guy who seems to have a lot of fun with the job he has...he's a lucky guy!!!

Anyway, to sum it up, I'll use a statement the (co)founder of Spundae used to describe the night..."This is a fucking awesome night."

Met a few TAs, and also talked to a couple I haven't seen in forever (to the point I couldn't remember who they were -- sorry about that!)...was nice to talk to y'all!!!

My friend and I got lost on our way to SF (took the wrong exit), got there around 11:10 and ended up paying $20 to enter

Even though Markus didn't show, it's awsome that Armin played his Shadows of Coldharbour remix of Beautiful Things <3

Overall a sweet set by Armin

Question: Is the set still going to be used for upcoming ASOT?

Posted by ninetyninej on Apr-03-2004 14:53:

I completely agree with Dave, Armins set was brilliant, energetic, and had the crowd captivated the whole time.....absolutely incredible night and the place was packed and the vibe was great....I think this just might top Ferry's night last month. Armin was great with fans too, infact I took off my #GDJB shirt and he signed it

Anyways great tracks (too many to name) and mixing....highlights were Tisto feat BT - Love Comes Again (Mark Norman Remix) Solarstone - Seven Cities and Audioholics - External Key of course

Also Armin played a little longer and pulled a 5hr 20min set and did 2 encores and his first encore had me out of control.....he played my all time fav track Push - Strange World his second encore was Conjure One - Tears From the Moon which was also great... and I agree he looked very tired because he was sooo into his set and dancing on almost every track......

Only bad thing of the night was that we were stuck on the Bay Bridge for over an hour because someone was trying to jump so we were a little late but all in all amazing night and it was great meeting you Dave, and thanks for the tip btw

Can't wait for PVD on May 1st!

I would say so -- he had his laptop (a nice powerbook) hooked up to the system and I believe he was recording to it.

One of the best sets I have ever witnessed! Dave any word on whether
we'll be able to get the recording of this set?

Dave, check your p.m.

Posted by DaveT on Apr-03-2004 21:01:

Here ARE some PiCtUrEs

And I doubt it'll be possible to get the whole set because Armin recorded it himself on his laptop....

Alright, Dave got one of me. (Guy in far right, wearing burgundy and brown checkered shirt) I look like crap though.

Anyways, that night was so friggin' awesome. I kept bugging my friends that we needed to leave early that night cuz I heard on the news that some wacko was trying to jump off the bridge. I tried to leave Mo-town by 7 but my friends kept lagging and we didn't leave til 8. I was trying to get there early enough so we didn't have to pay to get in, but we got in line at 10:30, so we had to pay. Damn it all.

I guess there was a little delay cuz they didn't open the main room til 11:15, but once it opened, that room got packed in only a few short minutes. I immediately got up to the front row so Armin could sign my copy of 76. I was supposed to have him sign ASOT 2004 but stupid Borders delayed my order of the album.

But seeing Armin spin was great. Yeah Gabriel and Dresden lit the place up back in 3/19, but Armin set it on fire. For the first time ever, I actually felt completely comfortable at a club, and having a blast! Some of the songs I was able to ID was Solid Globe-Sahara, Filo and Peri present Whirlpool-Under the Sun (Solarstone remix), Paul van Dyk f. Second Sun-Crush, Sander van Doorn-Loaded, Sarah Mclaughlin-Fallen (Gabriel and Dresden Anti-gravity mix)

It was also cool finally meeting you Dave. I know you were having a blast too, seeing you yell and jump like crazy (Not like I wasn't doing that either though. ) Fun-filled night. Wished my following Saturday night was just as good. Modesto clubs suck.

Oh well, can't wait for PVD May 1st.
