HappyHappy BT bashes Ray Munns while bashing Judge Jules at the same time!

Mixer August 2001

BT talking about his production work with N'Sync...

" 'It beats the shit out of that loser, Ray Muns, putting out a trance compilation,' BT vents. '...And I know that without seeing it.' Whats the difference between BT working with pop stars and Ray Munns, a former raver-cum-MTV V.J. helming a compilation? 'You have to be kidding me,' he says dryly. 'At least [N'Sync] are interested in progressive-thinking music. That guy is like a hand puppet put together by Kinetic. He's like Mr. Potato Head-- put in his left hand, then put a glowstick in it. Then put a pacifier in it, and put him in from of turntables and put a bunch of shitty Judge Jules sounding tracks on it because it'll be cool. It's so fucking contrived. At least N'Sync are kids trying to find themselves, you know what I mean? That is the single most embarrassing thing I've ever seen in my life' "

And WTF are they exactly?

Isn't this a little late? I thought the whole BT - Ray Munns thing was done like 3-4 months ago. I don't care...

Posted by djSlain on Aug-19-2001 18:25:

jeez, what an asspumper (BT). BT tries to make pop STAY in the mainstream, while dissing those who try and get trance some recognition in the states. If he has a little beef with Raymond releasing a disk, i guess he has a LOT of beef with Moby/Oakenfold for holding that Area:One tour.

Posted by patticus on Aug-19-2001 20:53:

LOLOL

bt has the right to bash any producer out there.. his talent is as such...
esp. jules, hahaha
i never heard of this munn guy b4

Posted by LiquidX on Aug-19-2001 23:32:

Yeah , I read this article, and when I did , I was .. Ok mr BT, who the hell is going tours into the commercial world , money wise in here ?!?! who the hell is wanting to also do jobs for Britney Spears as well ?!?! hmmm..

Posted by tranceDJ on Aug-20-2001 01:55:

BT has a point here and I agree with him on some comments he makes. N'Sync came to him wanting to do a techno-type track...it still might be commercial but at least they're trying for a new type of sound. That Ray Munns is total crap too, he put together a compilation of tunes everybodys already heard...he probably programmed the mix too with the help of others. Judge Jules is ok...nothing amazing as a producer or whatever.

And to add...BT might be a fucking awesome producer but he needs to stop thinking that he is the absolute best and everybody else is shit compared to him.

Posted by Renegade on Aug-20-2001 11:46:

Yeah, he's losing the bloody plot.

"[N'Sync] are interested in progressive-thinking music. "

I mean, what the fuck?

I dunno who this Ray Munns guy is, but I think I'd be 10,000 times more likely to see him perform than BT at the moment. BT has just become this self-opinionated wanker, who obviously believes that the only way he can justify all this sell-out, commercial wank he's produced is by bashing the work of other people. Fine, he has talent, but there's no way he can justify bullshit like this. If he wants to collaborate with corporate puppets, who have done more to destroy music in the past 5 years than anyone else in the history of music, then fine, he can fuck off.

But if he does go down that path, he automatically forfeits the right to criticise anyone else. These statements demonstrate what a hypercritical shithead he's become.

Piss off Brian. Leave the music to the real artists.

^^^^Amem to That!^^^^

i cant believe that BT has the nerves to say such things.. since when does he have the right to belittle others works?i personally dont think anything can be more shallow than the action that he took by collabortating w/ NSYNC...! seems like now that hes only doing this for the money and not for love of trance.... i mean seriously, now hes collaborating w/ brittney EWWWWWWWW! i think this is insulting to the whole trance community...

what a sellout!

I once went to the BT forum, and read that BT once flamed or talked sh*t about TIESTO and Ferry Corsten, for been the cheesers of trance and the ones taking it to commercialism, and I saw people posting against BT for saying such comment, now, im not 100% sure since I only saw this discussion on his forum.

BY the way, Ray Munns, is a VJ in MTV who loved Electronic music before he became a VJ, he loves sasha, digweed , oakenfold and so on, and loved to be in TWILO. Now, he is a VJ and he said that he has to do what MTV says, since he loves his job, but his main love is tours the electronic music, so his trying to bring trance into a bigger audience, that release was done so those top 40 listeners can see what this music is about, and maybe convert them into tranceaddicts?!? and again, dont say that his CD is the biggest sh*t, it was target to a certain audience, in the USA, you cant give them a Ferry Corsten type of playlist to people that dont even know trance, right ? so , I love BT's work , especially his 1st works, but with comments like this he shows how his EGO has gonne up to worst sh*t, and doing stuff on NSYNC and BRITNEY SPEARS he thinks is doing a good for the electronic music ?!?! 1st off Nsync wanted a Hip Hop funky tours sound .. thats what they asked BT, and POP I find it the same kind of rythm as on their other works, so I think BT should back off on what he says, he hated commercialism.. hahaha look at where his at now. sad sad sad... his doing a worst job then ATB I think , he once said that producers like him give trance a bad name, but they atleast stay to their music, but him .. collaborating with POP artists .. come on, same purpose, the money.

I still don't get why a lot of people hate judje jules?? I think he's pretty good.

Posted by patticus on Aug-21-2001 00:19:

lol

I got to reply to this.

OK guys, name one REALLY GOOD bt tune equivalent to ferry corsten, tandu, or even Judge jules, maybe "flaming june" but that's only one. I can name over a dozen ferry tracks better than BT, and over 2 dozen tandu tracks better than BT. Take "flaming june" away from BT and he'll be making background music for porno movies. He probably got that "flaming june" melody from an old song book, because otherwise, why hasn't he done anymore tunes of that nature since?

Flaming June is BT's claim to fame. ONE FOOKIN TUNE and he knows it.

Secondly, his remix of that back street boys or whatever SUCKS.
His remix of sarah maclachlan's "i love you" sucks, it sounds generic, everything about it is generic. It's just beats with her voice over it, whooo whee, BIG FOOKIN DEAL.

BT CAN'T WALK THE TALK, he's full of sh*t.

he talks all this sh*t and then goes and TRIES TO REMIX a tune for 5 boys who are goiing thru puberty, all dancing in sync looking like puppets on a string, now if that ain't cheese in it's truest form then shoot me please! So he basically attempts to remix a tune for the TRUEST FORM OF CHEESE, and not only does he attempt at it, he fails at it. I don't see his remix soaring thru the dj charts let alone on any charts.

and wasn't he in a failing rock band at one point? how the fu(k do u go from rock and roll to pure electronic music? something is wrong with that picture.

Like him or hate him, you have to admit that BT produces quality. You can hear all of the work that goes into each and every one of his productions. Besides Flaming June, he's made wicked tracks like "Dreaming", "Sunblind", "Mercury and Solace"... love him or hate him, the man has talent

Posted by djVersus on Aug-21-2001 23:35:

quality?

his music sounds generic, amateurish, there's no detail of soundscape anywhere in his work.

it's generic as generic can be.

Posted by Kurve on Aug-21-2001 23:38:

hmmm sounds to me like BT is one of those guys now that feel threatened with the new artist and market.......when he started it was pretty much a few artist encluding him....hes just seeing that hes not getting as much recogition anymore so he is mad...... mayb thats why getting with Nysnc or Brittney to boost his name back up there but i dunno if that would really help!........

and for the comment about bashing Tiesto ...i dont know if this is true ...but Tiestos favorite song of all time is BT - Mercury & Solace..... i guess if he knew that it was his favorite track of all time he would feel really shitty for talking shit..... cuz i wouldnt ever bash anyone when one of there all time favorite tracks was something i made no matter how cheezy there shit was to me. Cuz that would be such a fucked up and rude thing to say or do!

but hey i love many BT productions there classics.....but from what i heard and if its correct he lost my respect for him as a person!

Posted by cheesenip on Aug-22-2001 04:32:

isn't pop music ALL mainstream?

i thought that's what POP music was..... MAINSTREAM music

Ok, many might know that BT is my fav. prducer. But I'll be impartial on this one.

The man DOES have talent. And for saying how generic his music is...fuk! I havent' heard so much atention for the sound, the details and all at anybody. He has tried (and succeeded in doing) some pretty risky shit on his albums. Flaming June is a classic; but then there's Godspeed, Embracing the Future, Mercury and Solace...And some great trax in every style he does (I still get all feverish when I turn on Satellite or Remember.. )

He has scored some great movies and scored them good. Period.

If he made the coment about Tiesto... I hardly think that. I dunno way, I hardly do.

About Judge Jules..well, I haven't heard this guy (heard about him but not from him!), so I can't judge (hehe!) whether BT is right or not.

And his co's with pop artists. Still, what the fuk? U think NSYNC would have chosen to record a song with few lyrics and bangin' sounds? It wouldn't be pop anymore. (by the way, POP won at the TeenChoice awards some prize.. the fukerz didn't thank BT...shitty fukkaz!)

So chill! Wait for BT's new album! I hardly can though!
