but she wants an automatic

Posted by tranceDJ on Mar-30-2004 00:39:

Automatic RX-8? Thats just wrong.

They're also $35,000 USD...pretty expensive.

tell her to get ready to be pull over every five seconds.

my friend was pulled over three times in a day the other day for nothing.

Posted by Matt Jay on Mar-30-2004 01:18:

Automatic or not it's still a fkn RX-8

however i'd rather an RX-7

Posted by TrAnCe CoNtRoL on Mar-30-2004 01:19:

quit being such a picky bitch. if she wants to buy you a damn car id be happy with whatever i could get, especially an rx-8. are you honestly going to be going that fast where a manual shift is going to benefit you. oh wow so you get away from that red light faster than the guy with the automatic.

Posted by Phunky1 on Mar-30-2004 01:20:

woah! that's totally different then the ones I've seen...those rims are smaller and of a different make. And I've never seen that spoiler before either, but I gotta say that's pretty coo. Your mom should get that spoiler

i love the fact that people dont realise that a sports automatic transmission will go thru the gears at the exact amount of revs for optimum acceleration... what makes people think that manual transmission cars will go "faster"????

they shift faster, plus it gives you more control for turns and stuff, ie downshifting

but for the street, it hardly makes a difference and most ppl dont have the skill anyways to make a manual transmission beat out an automatic

Posted by TrAnCeAkI on Mar-30-2004 02:03:

u cant even compare a manual with a automatic :P manuals are much faster and funner imo!

ye

if your mom wants an auto, why not? i mean i assume she will do daily stuff like goto work, buy groceries, goto stores, pick you up. You dont need a stick for that. after all, auto's are convenient for these types of activities.

make sure the car gets a quality security system too.

manuals are much much faster than automatics IF you are a pro at it

Posted by malek on Mar-30-2004 03:31:

ugly car

and manual are such a hassle in town and thru traffic

...sacrificing torque and horsepower to do so.

i guess what separets a pro from a non pro is how far they push the gas.... that is the only thing u have to do in an auto

Manual transmissions also enable you to do what is called "heel-toe driving" or "rev matching." This style of driving requires all three peddles and takes some practice to learn, but once it is accomplished and becomes automatic you can go on a thrill ride in the twisties that an automatic could never do.

I'm not dissing automatics, they both have their good and bad. It's really only a matter of preference...my preference manual.

heal and toe only helps in races, not in the real world.... u can do a little heal and toe on f1 type gearboxes too, and they are automatic....

Auto:
Horsepower 197 @ 7200 rpm
Torque 164 @ 5000 rpm

Manual:
Horsepower 238 @ 8500 rpm
Torque 159 @ 5500 rpm

So depending on how good you are, you could go faster with the manual, depending on rev speed and all that...

The manual is also 40lbs. lighter.
