archive for keys of tunes ?

Hey guys, I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but wouldn't it be great if we could have a database of keyed songs? This one being more specific towards trance and not a general keying service.

Reason being, services like camelot require fees, that many budding dj's cant really afford, and that new releases take a while to get keyed. In contrast, the TA keying service could provide keys of whitelabels and those rare tracks. Having alot of people contributing will also help inmprove the integrity of the data.

I don't think it would be wise to implement such a resource as a sticky thread as it would make it harder to search for songs. It could be a simple database with basic alphabetic sorting capabilities, and the ability to sort by key or by song name or artist etc. thats all thats needed, really.

Heck it could be a .txt file which supports Ctrl+F for all I care, I just think it would be way helpful to all TAs.

Your views?

www.harmonizer.co.uk

It's free, it works by voting system (you can vote for a key and bpm for a specific track, the key/bpm who has more votes is considered the "real") and it's got plenty of features to help you...

When you open mixmeister, right click on the black window to the left. Choose "import music or video files". Then on the lower status bar a message will appear "calculating BPM and plot x%". When it's finished, it will display the name, bpm and key on the black window.

yeah buddy i've checked it out before but like I was saying most of these databases are not really trance-orientated, its hard to find many tunes on them.

I pretty sure only Mixmeister version 5 and above has that function.. but yeah..using mixmeister might work for some, but it would be just easier to just click 'search' and find the key of the song you are looking for..

According to Camelot Sound, its accuracy is approximately 60%.

Nemesis compiled quite a large listing of keyed tunes.

You can find this helpful thread here:

if you are looking for song key/bpm information, check out "rapid evolution" at [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
... the software itself is free and includes automatic bpm and key detection (along with tools such as a midi piano and bpm tapper for manual verification). it was recently improved to store all song information on a central server too, that way you can retrieve bpm/key/style information on songs already submitted by users... not only that, you can see mixouts that other djs have come up with as well... the program does much more, please check it out you won't regret it! :-)
