Smiley DJ Sunquest - Super Nova *Updated*

this is another uplifting trance tune of mine, its a sample from the middle of the song so dont think it starts out like this ppl
has a slow melody part then it builds and then the climax and then....

length: 2:something
quality: 112 kbps
genre: trance

let me know what u think, dont be shy

second sample: (i fixed the clap as u said it was too loud , i fixed the reverb, i added some more treble, i think it sounds better, but u tell me...i also added an extra part in the end)

Yo!
What to say about your track... It's good. The ideas are really interesting!Cool!
But the producing quality need to be improved. Some advices I can give you are:
- don't overuse the reverb effect
- take care of equalizing instruments
- instrument's levels are very important too (for example I think the pads are too loud in your track and the leads are a bit "far")

Well maybe I forgot something... Keep working on this and it will be better
Regards,
//Max

Wow! What a great song. The part at 30 seconds is gorgeous. I think Fractal may be right about the amount of reverb though. Maybe to much on the pads but I think there is too much on the bass. But that aside, overall, this is one beautiful track. Great job.

Hey Sunquest.

Indeed another nice track, getting familiar with your style...

Melody is again very nice and it all sounds like nice banging trance as trancy as trance can be. One tip from my side is to work on the EQ-ing, work on clearing it all up. Mainly the synths could use some more highs I guess. It's too muddy for my feeling.

I hope you can fix this in your tracks, maybe thicken up here and there, it would be great and you can start thinking of sending stuff out I guess.

Keep them coming!
-Jay

Beautiful track... I want the full thing! I agree that the reverb is a little much though. I love the beat/bassline - and the main synth is perfect.

Posted by Sunquest on Mar-30-2004 23:32:

thanx for the feedback guys
hmm i geuss ill have to start working on that reverb
id also agree on the eq'lizing part of the track, im still getting better and better at it so hopefully itll be perfect one day
as for the synth, one person suggested that i add another layer, so im thinking of adding a third layer (because there are two for the melody) which will be one octave lower, which hopefully will make it more powerfull..
anyways, ill update u guys when i finish the track

Smiley DJ

awesome track, kick and clap stand out a too bit, they overpower the synths a tad, work with the levels a lil more, other than that good stuff, love the guitar.

Posted by Sunquest on Mar-31-2004 02:22:

i updated the track, (download link is on first post) i fixed the clap as u said it was too loud , i fixed the reverb, i added some more treble, i also added an extra part in the end, i think it sounds better, but u tell me...

Hey Sunquest,

I listened to your second sample and may I say that you now have an amazing track on your hands. I really like this song. I think your kick is perfect. The hihats are wonderful. ....and that melody - glorious!! Overall, your track is truely well done. I cant find anything wrong with it not that I was; I was enjoying it. Youve definitely fixed the reverb issue. From what I can tell by the quality of the clip, it sounds very professional. What program(s) did you use to create this song? Just curious.

Great job!

Hollen

i do love this track. i think that from 27 seconds its fantastic. i love the guitar sound b4 but i think the melody could be improved to suit the rest of the tune more, ill show u what i mean later with some midi files overall best track ive heard of yours yet, gorgeous. Are the sounds presets in reason or are u making ur own now? i love the bass, did u say u made that sound urelf? very nice

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Mar-31-2004 06:36:

having said that about the guitar tune at the start, when it comes in on top of the rest of the tune it works very well. but i would still change the tune a bit as i think with that sound u could have a much more powerful melody like i said i can show u what i mean using midi later on

your buddy mike

Worm Popper

wow, this has brightened my day up already at 7:55am

that guitar type sound at the beginning is amazing, you should use that as an intro for the completed track as i think it would be amazing to start a set with this track...

good work

Would this happen to be inspired by "Transa - Supernova" ?

Well produced track my friend, well done, I only think you could have layered it further

Posted by Sunquest on Mar-31-2004 12:33:

wow, thanx for feedback guys
im so glad u like it hehe
and hey mr mike. i agree with u on the first 30 second clip with the guitar, i could make it better just having some trouble with that part, but ill get past that
ill see ur midi when im on msn later
thanx again for feedback guys

o and its not insprired by Transa - Supernova
i was thinking of exploding stars when i made this , so super nova it is!

by the way, is it supernova or super nova?
is it one word or two?

The scientific term is Supernova (One word) methinks...

U and Transa must have similar way of though then, the bassline progression is quite similar

Posted by Ian Vanderson on Mar-31-2004 13:39:

Seems to be my destiny to always make the last entry to all of ya track postings.

But what can I still add. Sound Quality is as amazing as everytime, perhaps even a bit better. Everything a perfect flow...

Anyway, there are no big surprises in track buildup, no unexpected but proper turns, but dunno if I really miss them. Possibly it's not the kind of trance needing such turns, so keep it as it is.

Amazing work.

Keep on trancin', man!

i never heard of any Transa songs, but kewl

o and Ian Vanderson, im just curious, do u like the big "turns and twists" in a climax? because too bad, i hate it
just kidding , ill try it in my next song...

Can't exactly specifiy, what I mean. I'll show you an example of this, if my next harder track "Rush Hour" is finished. Could take me some time, cause it has to enthuse Tiesto.

Posted by george_hales on Apr-01-2004 14:40:

Nice clip! I like it alot... some feedback though.

Although i think the lead needs a bit more eqing to bring it out, its a nice pattern and a nice sound. The lead durring the break that comes in after the guitar, i think that could do with being a bit phatter sounding, maybe add some unison or detune.

Other than that, thats all i can really say about the clip!

Brilliant stuff

George

The beginning reminds me a bit to Scott Bond vs Solar Stone - 3rd Earth maybe a little inspired by that track?

Yeah a little much of reverb overall in the track too much! But well it sounds nice, beat is nice not very special. Overall sounds really nice. I really like you strings and the beginning is massive! At 1:22 it's really nice, nice drive, but I think you can make the synth just a little fatter by eq-ing it right. But good stuff!

Ohh sorry I listened to the old version now the new one
Yeah this one is better not that much reverb, very great beginning. Really a massive track dude, awesome work!

Posted by Sunquest on Apr-01-2004 15:51:

thanx again guys
ya i proly should remove the old version hehe
and to Drazik: i didnt think of 3rd earth while making this, BUT i always think of solar stone when i make my tracks because they are unbelievable!
(by the way, 3rd earth is my second fav. track of all time )
