John OO fleming

I would say that he is a hybrid between the trance we like and psy? Does anyone agree?

you need to listen to more j00f.

If you want some real trance/psy crossover DJs, look to Israel. Robert Gitelman, Gabi Biton, Amir Hamami, Yahel, Idan Gutman

Thanks, I have to admit I know very little about psy trance, it just appeared to me that way

I would actually agree with you on that one, it's not as much a hybrid between trance and psy, its a case of trance with some psy influences.
I saw him at Cream in Feb and he was amazing

In my opinion he plays the psy/goa we like interspersed with some trance you like!!

its just about any type of trance that has an "underground" feel to it. His tracks aren't the top melody synth strings we listen to... he plays trance with movement.

Posted by mike_stefan69 on Mar-31-2004 10:13:

underground is the right words, thats why his sets are so bloody hard to ID

however, he does play trance with clear psy influences, given he plays stuff like 1200 mics and astral projection

Fleming plays killer prog too

When in doubt, mash all the terms together and you'll get something really warm and special. I like John '00' Fleming's style, and those double zero's too... his White Label Euphorias have showcased some real gems for me.

yeh, he kinda plays watertered down psy which borders a bit wioth progressive. but i liek his style he plays quite a few dark tunes that i play but also a smidgen of techno and a bit of trance, a good veriety.

he is most awesome when he pitches it up a notch and plays more upbeat stuff. i saw him once and he jsut played prog and it was awful.

Posted by Wheel of Steel on Mar-31-2004 11:43:

he's def the perfect hybrid between psy and other genres of trance. For his recent 6 hour sets here in New York he plays about 70% psy and a mix of progressive trance and classics.

J00F plays real trance.

tiesto/armin/pvd are all fluff compared to him

Posted by Billabong on Mar-31-2004 13:34:

Saw him last november, his crowd interaction is great, never minds signing records ever.

Posted by XeQtOr on Mar-31-2004 14:58:

From dark prog to the fastest psy.
And from the most uplifting trance to some nice techier tracks.

That's how i would describe J00F's style

i agree. trance was originally build up in sets, and energy was channelled between tracks and the dj had to build the entire set.. now its more like each track is a mini set with a build up breakdown buildup breakdown etc.. j00fs style is great

Posted by AlphaStarred on Mar-31-2004 16:48:

If someone does a warm-up set before him, he'd usually spin trance and psy/goa...if he's spinning for the whole night he'd usually start with some prog.
Even his trance, however, is distinct from alot of other djs who usually spin trance...he does indeed drop dark, techy beats, and whenever i hear him spin i am always anticipating for him to drop some The Digital Blonde production or other, as he is usually wont to do so

saw him last month. his style was very unique indeed. very 'underground'. but the ocassional classics that he drops makes you go haha
