Which technics??
I've got stanton's and I'm about to step up to technics.
Is MK5, M3D, or Mk2 the best?

i'd go with the M3D which is what I have because the pitch fader doesnt click on zero, it stays smooth the whole way. The mk5 is alot more expense and I dont see the advantage to it. the pitch fader on the mk5 is +/- 16 but i wouldnt go over +/- 8 on most tracks anyway so it may not be worth it for the price. it does look pretty cool though. imo...

| Originally posted by dj chex your thinking about the mk5g. MK5 is the replacement for the m3d actually the m3d and mk5 are the same price. The only differences between the m3d and mk5 are: Mk5 uses a LED bulb for the stylus lamp, MK5 has antiskate up to 6grams, And mk5 has moved the brake adj pot a little more to the right so you can adjust brake w/o needing to remove the platter. I own a mk5 and m3d. Between the two the mk5 is no different in price or performance, just the stylus lamp will last alot longer on the mk5 so i would take the mk5 for the better lamp. As for the mk2. It's a good deck, just has the click at 0% and can get a little edgy around that pitch range. I would recomend it if your a turntablist that plays w/ pitch, or can get this deck for cheaper than it's brothers. It's a great deck as well. |

There's no cliking at zero but does a light open or something to tell you your at zero ???

That click at 0%pitch on MKIIs is nothing but a ball bearing which is removable if you're handy with electronics, or you could simply get the M3D pitch slider and replace it and have smooth adjustment thruout, and no you won't get the instant reset to 0% pitch. ![]() Cheers... |

i just got 2 mk5s like 2 weeks ago.. improved my mixing dramatically =)=)=)
well I would have wanted MK5s, but since they weren't available in this region then, I settled for MK2s, and well, they're awesome as hell. Just get whichever you 'feel' you'd like to see sitting in your room for the rest of your life=)
what do you guys think about M5G's think they are worth it or not?
I would like the MK5G's for the +/-16 pitch slider as some of the dark techno I like to play needs to be abit quicker
That is currently then it can go.
I would love for the option of the -/+16 and would fork out the extra $200AUD for it.
Currently I'm saving up for a pair of them

I have the M3ds and am very glad i dont have mk2s. the pitch notch is nothing serious, but it is a little annoying when you are used to decks without it. i wouldnt spend the extra $ for the m5gs but they are nice decks.
