Someone gimme the low down on Twisted
I'm intrigued by the way so many of u hate twisted, azim, and others so much, but I don't know why. Any personal experiences or explanations would be very cool.

NightCreature pretty much summed it up from the partygoer perspective...
From a promotional/DJ standpoint, Twisted is a pain in the ass too. I have seen PROOF that they are really unprofessional in dealing with DJs from outside their organization. They only book their friends to play, no matter how shitty they are. It's selfishness, plain and simple.
The same thing goes for Solid Corp too, which is more or less the hard trance version of Twisted. They don't give a fuck about the music, all they care about is MONEY. For instance, at Insomnia, Vlado was given an hour on the decks, and he played the best set of the night, whereas the Shy Brothers spun one of the worst sets ever and got two hours to do it in. Quality DJs mean nothing to them, they have no idea how lucky they are to have some of the talent they do. But that's just how this city is, there are too many goddamn idiots working in the scene.
around 80-85 % of ppl who go to twisted and solid parties go there to get fucked out of their minds on e, and not for the music, they know that , and they dont care, as long as ppl buy tix their happy, sound sux, local dj's sux, overpriced tix...so much shit they do...
solid corp is different from twisted. they arent as much about the $, they just need to break even to be happy. ive been to about 10 of their events (i know them really well) and they have lost mega $ on some of their club shows.. its all about the djs. Equipment, lighting, etc is not important... its the quality of the tracks. the big raves just put them close to even.
twisted is a business which cannot afford losses, which is whiy they are more cuthroat businesswise.
i must admit that some of the songs shy brothers played at insomnia have been overplayed by them, but anyone whos heard azim play sholan - can you feel a million times knows what i mean when i say they havent reached that point yet.
on a side note, i loved vlado.
Yeah I don't bash Twisted so much but the overuse of drugs really got to me. I know it goes on a lot @ club nights too but not the same degree.
The one thing htat bugged me the most was the "Asian-death-circles". There are these like 40 year old vietnamese people taht will get into circles and hug and sway (not to the music) and people even are sitting down on the floor. The first few times it was fun cause I could get in before I was legal age. But now i don't even bother. There's some Dj's I'd like to see but are they worth a $55 ticket? Nope...
Azim is an amazing dj (mixing wise) but i don't like what he plays. Just big name cheesey track after big name cheesy track. And Tazix is even worse! But I guess that's they're style. i don't want to diss them cause they have to be good djs to be playing for that many people!

I can't really say I blame these guys for booking their friends, but honestly if you ever want to get recognition as a PROMOTER, then you have to be arbitrary and book the best acts for your shows, not just you and your friends and whoever kisses your ass the most. I've only seen the Shy Brothers play once, and while I wasn't that impressed I obviously have some degree of bias since their style of music is one I don't particularly like. If I were to throw a big party, obviously I'd love to be headlining for thousands of people, but I wouldn't give myself that set, if I gave myself any set at all, because there are other DJs that would do the job better. When you book 4 hardtrance locals to go with 2 hardtrance headliners, you're going to have a lame party 9 times out of 10 IMO. If you want MY respect, and not that anyone really does (=P), then you should book a selection of quality DJs from compatible genres such that the programming of the night is solid. If you're a hardtrance DJ and want to play a 2 hour set at your party, then fine, but AT LEAST book the DJs around you to have different styles such that the music progresses throughout the night and there is a good flow. I can speak from my experience, DJ'ing for a crowd that loves it HARD, that they truly truly truly appreciate when you buildup gradually to the peak level. We've had night when it's been trance trance trance and it hasn't gone NEARLY as well as nights where it gradually built from prog into trance. This is something that's unfortunately lost on most DJs in the city because they feel they need to play peak-time sets everytime they grace the decks, regardless of their timeslot or the timeslots of the people around them.
Anyways, as for Twisted I have no personal problems with either Azim or Tazix; they've both been cool with me whenever I've seen them. Azim tends to ignore phone calls when he doesn't feel like doing you any favours, but oh well *shrug*. I know I'm personally looking forward to Twisted 04, even though I think the line-up could have been structured better (esp with Danny no longer playing). Oh well, to each their own.

cus at insomnia vlado, and shy brothers played uplifting from the first track, and i didnt want to waste my strenght on those sets, i was saving myself for marco and scot but i couldnt help it.
Marco's set totally RIPPED ME APART, and then at 4 am scot project comes up, and scot plays HardTrance, bangin German HardTrance... and i tried to stay on my feet through his whole set, im happy i did, but i wasnt one of many, and i wasnt having a really good time when im tired as hell, and theres doezens of ppl around me fucked out of their minds, and they all tend to come dance right where im dancing...
hopefully Above & Beyond or AvB wont go up at 4 am at Twisted

E & Electronic music events
I don't post here much, but I do read most of these posts in the Western Canada forum of tranceaddict.com. There is something that continually surprises me when I read these posts. I'm probably going to get flamed for speaking my mind, but anyway.....
Do you people not realise that E and electronic music go hand in hand since the inception of the rave concept? If you do any research at all you will soon realise that the first "official" rave was in England and consisted of an American pioneer in electronic music playing to a crowd of 25,000 people who in his own words were "completely under the influence of Ecstasy."
Whether or not you choose to accept it, rave culture IS drug culture. I agree that sometimes it is disheartening when people go to events for reasons other than the music, but that is not unique to the drug using community. I promise you that the worst event I ever attended in those terms was for an *international* DJ who played at Sonar. The crowd was full of drunk posers who didn't have a bleeping clue who was playing or even what they were listening to.
Since most of you are intuitive enough to already guess, I am not ashamed to admit that three to four times a year I enjoy using MDMA in a small rave setting. Whether you are sitting in a corner gnawing on a binky, in the corner in an e-puddle, swaying in a "death circle" on the dance floor or just dancing with wild abandon it's all part of an experience of losing yourself in the wild joy of just being alive that E causes. Hell, I'm a 29 year old male and I'll be the first to say that a good light show with glowsticks is one of life's little wonders. You have no idea how warm and alive colours can actually be. Since I've never attended a massive or all ages, maybe I truly have no idea what "fucked out of your mind" means.
I'm fortunate enough to be a true tranceaddict whose interest in trance music is independent of external chemical enhancement. Dutch trance gets me as high as any drug. It sucks that there isn't more of a trance scene in Vancouver.
I really appreciate you guys and the two of you I've met seem like some cool people for sure, but enough of the elitist technophile attitudes already!!!! 
Heh I think you'll only find a handful of people here that are anti-drugs. I'm sure as fuck not one of them =P Frankly, I love them and love it when people are on them, because it *usually* makes the vibe better. I think the problem with the plaza is the lack of good setup usually. It needs to be WAY darker with trippier lights, and way louder, which it can't be because of noise bylaws. Good Riddance IMO to the plaza.

no one has a problem with drug use at parties...i certainly don't.....hell i'm for it just as sean said........
it becomes a major problem when people cannot handle them, take too much, and act like they should be hanging out 4 blocks east at hastings and main........some people get so wacked they really put a bad name on the scene....
PON parties and twisted jams are just brutal.....at least in montreal people can handle them and don't make it blatantly obvious they are mashed out of their minds...i can't even figure out what half the people are on at twisted parties in the main room....like they are all smashed on k...wtf
if you like partying with these fine ladies the PON is for you....lol....
the two on the outside look fine to me!

1 week to go. Should be a awesome night. Armin will spin a awesome set i know it. Hopefully everyone is just mangled out of there tree. Ill have a good time no matter what!. I ordered my tickets from www.clubzone.com about 3 weeks ago , but havent come yet .. Is this typical of clubzone to send late tickets? of do i have to get them at Twisted when i come down?
