Angry 56kpbs and demo mp3s

ok...i know people dont want to put up full mp3s anymore cos they think they might get signed. but really, the new amatuer producers need to put up full version 192's of their stuff so that people can get a full listen and possible play their tracks...hence promoting them more and then giving them a better chance of eventually getting signed

cos most of the stuff on here now will not get signed...so go on-share it!

enough of the 56kpbs and demo mp3 crap....unless the tune has already been signed!!!! (or possibly will)

we need to get back to sharing full music with each other..im sick of 2minute previews.

They are? Cool man. Create for your doing a relatively bad song then and share it with us ok?

And I totally 100% agree with you about the clips and bad quality tracks. Post the full package!

im working on something pretty shit at the minute

Posted by DRM on Apr-01-2004 17:11:

i totally agree with you john. there are loads of tunes posted on here that although they are good, it aint likely to be signed and still we only get a 2min 128 sample or something shit like that. maybe people should be a little more generous

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Apr-01-2004 17:20:

Yep, this has been an issue for me since the day I came here and it's only getting worse by the day.

People seem to think the labels are going to sign anything these days and won't do so if the tracks have been posted up in full. Just look at Haak, for example. Nearly all the tracks he's had released were first posted up here in full. I have posted full tracks here and had labels contact me because they heard the full track here. Not only once but twice.

What's even worse is people posting clips of unfinished stuff. I have decided not to listen to any clips whatsoever from now on unless the clip is fully justified.

Posted by djHollen on Apr-01-2004 17:36:

You all bring up a good point are absolutely correct in my opinion.
It does make more sense to put up a full high quality track, if your some no name producer, and hope someone might spin it rather than than wait to get signed through the mail off of some label.
Once I get web space, Ill provide this site with full tracks!
Damn right?

Take care everyone,

Hollen

I'll post something when I actually make it.

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-01-2004 21:08:

i duno to be honest i think its up to the artist what they post ! all they wana do is share it with u for u to enjoy, if u dont wana enjoy it thats fair enough. i never hosted more than a short 128 kb clip or he ful track at 96 kbs

Posted by Jay M on Apr-01-2004 21:24:

Of course it's up to you, and tho I know you make good stuff, it's your same stuff getting moved to my trashbin the first time I clean my tranceaddict folder, which I do often, cause I download most tracks here. While full versions I like (they are quite numerous) stay on the disk longer, and I listen them quite often. You want your stuff to be heard or not?

Space is an issue and so is a contract you already have with a label for which you make new good stuff, but other than that, I think you should post the full 128kbps+ version. Enjoy your listeners.

I can fully understand the guys here and agree. Some of them are grumpy, but so right.

Again, it's up to you but it's up to us to listen to it or not. Do me and other listeners a favor and post the whole track.

Peace

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-01-2004 21:44:

its just the worry that posting full tracks will mean that they stand no chance of getting signed, which could well be a factor. These guys want ppls opinions they dont nesesarily want ppl to listen to their music everyday, all they want is feedback so i think its fair enough not wanting to post the whole thing. like u said, as the listener, u can choose what u hear! if the artist doesnt wana post a full, dont listen, certainly dont complain hehe.

Posted by Jay M on Apr-01-2004 22:51:

Mike, Yeh I see your point.. I don't know if that's true tho. But don't forget that the people with quality productions, and thus with the good ears, and thus the people you want reviews from, post this thread to say they'd rather hear the full load. (And I don't mean myself, I haven't signed anything.)

I think the comments of the good guys around here is the most constructive you can get. If I post a track here and because of that I can't get it signed... bummer.. I just make a better one which does get signed, cause I know every track I make is better than I ever made (how long this is going on I don't know).

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-01-2004 22:54:

i duno i just dont see y its worth throwing away an oportunity like getting signed just to satisfy ppl on here fully :P an ideal way of doing it:

post a short 128 kbs clip of the tune so that quality of production can be heard

also post a 96 kbs rip of the whole track so that the whole track structure and build up can be commented on

that way ur not risking anything and u can still get quality feedback from ppl whos opinions count

Posted by Jay M on Apr-01-2004 23:12:

Ok, I'm not waiting to get signed. I want people to hear my music and when I post something useful for people here to play at their club cause they're DJ, they just let me know (i guess) and it's fine, I'd be honoured! At that time I'll consider sending stuff out, and maybe that track gets signed, or so, would be nice. But to me it's more important that people like my stuff, and want to hear it.

Our views on this differ on this, cool

Posted by Sunquest on Apr-01-2004 23:13:

all i gotta say, is that Mike Foyle up there ^
got signed, so if u have confidence in ur track and get good feedback, why post the full track and lose ur oppurtunity...

Well I always put up my tracks in full at at least 192Kbps, but I understand I'm not in the same position as most.

I am just happy if someone can take some kinda enjoyment out of it.

Posted by Spin Doctor on Apr-02-2004 00:47:

I post my tunes in 96 kpbs, am I worried someone might steal my work that I could get signed? No, I just dont have much web space.

Posted by Bren-F on Apr-02-2004 01:17:

I'm getting sick of samples aswell.
I always post full hi quality versions (bar 1 but that was signed at the time !)

Lighten up people - remember at the end of the day this is all for fun.
Just accept that not everything you produce is going to be signed.

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-02-2004 06:51:

ok so not everything will get signed, but why waste the chance?! thats all we are saying!

Posted by Massive84 on Apr-02-2004 09:01:

huh full versions don't get signed? dude purgatory got signed, and elude posted it full on 112kb.

to be honnest, i wanted to make a post about this, bust jhon it's not even the new comers, but also the pros.

sometimes people post samples on 96 quality or worse, i wonder why, it's a sample anyway it's not like it mite influence the signing part IF ITS A SAMPLE!.

and people reply, ya man your kick is to low, base to mudy, and we get at 192 its sounds clear, well if you know the feedback don't post then

there should be some general forum rulez here, and i think if these don't come, forums get floaded alot.

here are a few rulez i think, and you can all adjust or add new ones,

i am thinking off

*Post only finished Tracks, if not finished move it to the production studio i say.
*Full tunes min 96kb quality
*Samples of your tunes min 160 quality.

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-02-2004 10:26:

yes good rules. apart from posting finished tracks only. ppl post on here to get advice on what to add to their tracks and how to make hem better.

If getting signed is all you think about then you're in it for the wrong reasons.

Like I said before, I've had two tracks signed that were first posted up here in full. Of course I went back to the tunes and upgraded them afterwards but they are essentially still the same tracks. Also, same with Haak - he got both Bass Shuttle and Pulling Strings signed and he has posted both here in full. (I think).

Getting signed isn't everything. I never did my tracks thinking whether they would get signed or not. I did them because I love making music and I only do it for me and you all to enjoy.
