Genre whoring

this is progressive-breaks borderline house with a twist of terrorcore

gimme a break

ishkur (that lamer) brought this genre whoring and turned millions of trancers around the world in elitist assholes

here are the genres:
Uplifting/melodic trance
Progressive trance
Breaks
progressive breaks
House (I dont know enough about house to make the subgenres)

as one dj once said..who gives a fuck what genre it is as long as it is good.

You know, he did nothing more than showing how many different genres there are, as usually people (due to many reason) usually know only the genres that are more popular in the place they live or that they've got more access too.

The only reason why Ishkur's guide is so biased is because "genre whoring" exists long ago and many scenes have snobs you can't talk to without feeling like jumping on his throat (personally, I hate psy-trance to death rather because it reminds me of the psy-trancers from my city).

there are a few on this board...i'm one of them...and I'm not saying this to say look at me..i'm l33t....i just think claiming one person knows more than any person on a board of 30,000 is pathetic and stupid.

Im not talking about jungle, ambient, etc

oh yes, fine, goa/psy/tech can be added in there (as one)

I do research a lot about genres, and I do study enough to say that knowledges can't be compared. TTA does impress me with his knowledge on techno, and Ishkur also amazes me with the amount of stuff he knows, but I wouldn't say that one knows more as the focus of their knowledge is very different. There will always be someone who knows more about a particular subject than you do.

Take people like Noisician, for example. That guy knows a lot about genres that are quite obscure to many of us and that aren't yet on Ishkur's guide or that tta is not familiar to.

if it makes me taps my foot or nod my head then i dont care what genre of edm it is

I take Trance/Electronic/Dance as general categories and just choose what I like. Never get bogged down in the genre. Gotta have some female vocals though....

I'm not saying you do not know things mate (I do know you've got a good knowledge about loads of stuff), I'm just saying we all have different knowledges and background, so there will always be someone who knows more than us about something.

For example: You know more than I about techno, but I still speak Portuguese better than you. See what I mean?

Ishkur is a real champ, he has a real sense of HUMOR too. Of course, the disclaimer to his guide is a very important read. I don't agree with all his views but I do respect them. Uh... not everything on his site is meant to be taken word for word literally.

Use subgenres and subsubgenres as convenience -- just don't let 'em box in your enjoyment of the music. We're all different but we're all humans (except for that dog typing an essay on why trance is good for cats over there...) Heck, look at CRAYOLA's jumbo box and all their pretty shades of blue for crayons... but at the end of the day, it's all part of one united rainbow. Amen.

Man, your knowledge is not all-encompassing, no one really is that cultured. You do know many facts about edm history, but that doesn't make you the supreme authority or the guardian of edm truth.

Can you tell me the whole history of minimalism, rio funk, power electronics or even clownstep dnb?
A lot of people in this forum can, with much more authority than you could ever because they have actually lived these scenes.

Can you deconstruct any track into a harmonic progression/counterpoint analysis? Have you ever heard a live performance of Edgard Varese or John Cage? How far can you go into music history in relation to electronic music?

There are TAs than can answer in the affirmative to any of these, according to their specialization. Neither you, nor Ishkur nor anyone can answer EVERYTHING according to their absolute truth values of edm history. Deal with it.
