Expect bombs in the US this summer

Another fear tactic? Or will these terrorists win again with their motives.

I think the latter

Heh, we've been getting these warnings every couple of weeks for years now. I guess sooner or later one of them has to be accurate. But I'm not holding my breath.

I heard there's going to be large explosions in almost every American city across the nation to demonstrate a huge political resolve of a peoples sometime this summer.

I think the guys I over heard talking about it said something about July 4th

I remember they mentioned that most these explosives were manufactured in China too, so I am wondering if the Chinese are in cohautz with this arrangement

You better invade it - just to be sure.

"Theres nothing that America likes more than a good challenge. The strong ones will face it. The weak ones will second guess, but in their minds they will be thankfull that courage got the better of the cowards that threatened their freedom to second guess"

It's going to be a peaceful summer...in America.

We created the terrorists, just as we created the Bolshevik revolution.

Much of the picture our eyes will never see.

Hahaha, yes, and when it finally does happen, everybody is going to be saying "LOOK, THEY WERE RIGHT! WE MUST LISTEN TO THEM FROM NOW ON!"

It's like people who watch the same TV show every day, and they see an episode that they were thinking/talking about earlier in the day, and they're like "OH MY GOD I HAVE ESP!!!"

Make the same prediction every day and it's bound to come true eventually, as long as it's physically possible. That is what statistics tells us, anyway (as time approaches infinity, the probability of an event happening approaches 1).

Reviews:

From Library Journal
This is an intriguing account of one of the major foreign policy scandals in recent American politics. The author, an investigative reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, describes in riveting detail how the Atlanta branch of Italy's Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL) acted as a front for channeling illegal funds to arm Saddam Hussein's regime in the 1980s. The key role played by Christopher Drogoul, the manager of BNL-Atlanta, in facilitating transfer of funds to Iraq is highlighted throughout the book. Mantius also reveals the intricate relationships among various U.S. government agencies, the Italian government, and the BNL in laundering funds to bolster Saddam Hussein's ambitions in the Persian Gulf. An accessible treatment; recommended for both general and informed readers.?Nader Entessar, Spring Hill Coll., Mobile, Ala.

From Booklist
Since Watergate, it seems that the press has no need or desire to cut the president of the U.S. any slack in terms of investigating and publishing presidential wrongdoing or errors in judgment. Here, Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Mantius presents the disturbing story of U.S. political complicity that came to be known as Iraqgate. Despite Iraq's status as a terrorist nation, the Reagan administration made overtures to the Iraqis, mostly because they were at war with Iran. The Iraqis, desperate for weapons, welcomed the attention. The Bush White House continued the relationship, helping the Iraqis to receive new weapons and the technology to make more, right up until Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. To help fund their war machine, the Iraqis received illegal loans through the Atlanta branch of an Italian bank, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, or BNL. The Atlanta BNL was run by Christopher Drogoul, who would later insist that the Bush administration knew of his off-the-book loans to Iraq and gave its implicit approval--a point that Mantius' meticulous documentation makes difficult to refute. Another troubling look at presidential fiat and the ensuing cover-ups that necessarily follow. Brian McCombie

Investigates how the Atlanta, Georgia, branch of Italy's government- owned bank, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL), provided Saddam Hussein with billions to build weapons and destroy stability in the Middle East, and demonstrates how the BNL operation fit into the Reagan and Bush administrations' efforts to enlist Saddam as a trading partner and political ally. Includes b&w photos. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.

A true-life thriller focuses on an Atlanta bank that loaned billions to Iraq during the 1980s--money Iraq used to buy arms, develop weapons, destroy Iran, take over Kuwait, bomb Israel, and kill Americans in the Gulf War.

Out of curiosity, how did we create the bolshevik revolution and who is "we"? I only ask because the western powers staffed the White Army in order to overthrow the red army to bring Russia back into world war 1.

We're all doomed. Let us rally together and pray.

[/end dripping sarcasm]

These threats come out every so often, however, I do hope they are false, simply because I don't think our economy can take another beating.

Leon Trotsky travelled from New York to Petrograd on an American passport supplied by Woodrow Wilson.

He was supplied with loans from the National City Bank, American International Corporation and the Guaranty Trust Company, to name a few.

Well,I see it. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and pray for God's protection.

You just never know which threat is going to be carried out.

I agree there will be bombs this summer, fortunately they'll be in the movie theatre.

That's western governments, subjugate the population with threats of terrorism wile you slowly whittle away their rights as individuals in the name of liberty.

I'm so glad I live in a ever increasingly politically right-wing country.

Hmmmm...does everyone think there will be bombs in America cos of what happened in Madrid? (ie. a terrorist attack to manipulate public opinion during the election campaign)

I think this may be a little bit off the mark (altho I am certainly not saying they wont target America) as I do not think they will attack America with the same intentions as in Madrid. Let me explain...

They attacked Spain to get rid of the old government and install one that would get the troops out of Iraq (and now, apparently, Afghanistan too). However, would they attempt the same in the US? Do you think, if they are as clever as we believe them to be, that they think that this would work over their?

Europeans have a strong culture of being quite anti-government, yet in America, it is patriotic to support your current government. Its as if its a competition between two parties until the actual election, then after that all group together (from what I can gather, please feel free to correct me?)

So in Madrid, the government did get the blame, and the people elected a new government...would the same happen in America? Very few people would blame Bush I suspect, and it may have the opposite affect of them keeping him in power as an act of defiance?

Saying that, who does al-Qaida want - Bush or Kerry?

Bush by a long shot! He's done wonders for their membership and strength!
