Ok... what's the catch here?

http://www.djmart.com/geredjpa.html

What's the catch? This is too good to be true...

Gemini equipment is junk?

don't buy crappy equipment, you'll just end up buying new stuff as soon as you can afford it. Save up a little longer and you can get something a whole lot better...

I wish I never bought cheap equipment
so far I've replaced...
2 cd players
2 turntables
1 mixers
what a waste of money!!!
Buy good equipt the first time and you won't have to replace it.

"Are you ready to do some serious scratching?"

I'm sure those things fall apart as soon as you touch the vinyl...and think about the cool mixes you could do on a mixer with no EQ's.

just because the decks are direct drive doesnt mean that they are good. keep looking.

Posted by montie on Apr-04-2004 02:52:

Careful what you say... SOME of gemini's equipment is crap.. But my Gemini decks have yet to fail me.. The only other deck I would get is the Tech's.. My Gemini mixer does the job.. yes it would be nice to have a better one, or different make, but it does the job for getting started.. but I am not gonna replace my decks until they start to fuck up... I ain't gonna replace them just cuz I have 1500 bux for techs..

Cheers..

PS: My decks are PT-2100's... and yea those decks in that weblink are pretty crappy...

Posted by dukes on Apr-04-2004 03:36:

ignore all the instant blasting!

if you want to get decks but dont know if you will like dj that much why not get something this cheap?!!?

better than spunking shit loads on shit hot gear to find in a month you dont want to anymore.

and what about those who are talented but have no money to get this fancy stuff?

Posted by dj chex on Apr-04-2004 04:07:

gemini umx series mixers are a great value. It's just too bad they stoped making them a couple years back.

As for gemini's turntables, i have heard good things about some of their high end tables. I would still recomend 1200s over them

So I should get a pair of these?

*fwap fwap fwap*

Posted by RIP_Technics on Apr-04-2004 10:59:

i'd hit it

Posted by pumavisor808 on Apr-04-2004 14:34:

you can get 2 used techs 1200's on E-bay for around $400.00. These will last you alot longer than those 2 geimin's in that package.

I bought my 1200's used 2 years ago and they still have had no problems.
As for the mixer, make sure it has eq's, that mixer has none

ROFL
that mixer! it's so badass!!!11

seriously tho, for trance mixing, as long as you get DD tables that's good enough for a starting out, but you need a better mixer for sure, EQs are a must.

It doesn't even have enough torque to keep the platter moving when you hold the vinyl with your finger .

No, really, don't buy that, you'll already regret you bought it after a few hours. 300$ doesn't buy you 2 decent turntables, but this is just trowing away your money

Posted by Kamikaze Badger on Apr-05-2004 00:29:

Ok, another extremely stupid question...

What are EQ's?

Posted by veezee on Apr-05-2004 05:22:

save up and buy used or new techs. the resale value is really good...

you won't be dissapointed.. I bought 2 1200's to start and a crappier mixer (gemini ps-626 pro i think), and later upgraded to a djm-500 when i had the money.. I am glad i didn't have to replace the tables aswell..

EQ stands for equalizer. they allow you change the sound of whatever music you're playing...... like turning the bass down or up or adjusting the highs, etc. you want to look for a mixer that has EQ's for each input channel. you can tell just by looking at the mixer because there will be row of knobs either right above the channel fader or right next to it, that say: high, mid, low, or something to that effect.

hope that helps
