Introduction to trance

What was the first set (or song) that you can recall that really introduced you to trance? I couldn't have been more lucky, I remember the day I downloaded my first set (on a 56k connection) it was DJ Tiesto - Live at Trance Energy 2000. I don't think I could have picked a better file to have downloaded, it changed the next 4 years of my life, and will probobly even more.

Bought Ray Munns - Ray's House after I saw the commercial with Castles In The Sky in it. Then State Of Trance, then Trance Nation (mixed by ATB & Acosta), DJ Dan - In stereo, Keoki - Ego Trip. All in about a month.

I can't remember... the track that really kicked my ass into psy was Albibeno by Infected mushroom, though.

I can't remember, really. There were several tracks that really got me interested in finding more electronica.

However, the one set that hooked me on trance permanently was Paul Van Dyk's Essential Mix live at Columbiahalle. That show pwned me.

Well, for me I would say it was either the X-Mix Volume 1 - The MFS Trip mixed by Paul Van Dyk (released in 1992/1993) or Trancemaster Volume 4 (1993).

Some of the most beautiful trance-tracks of all time was featured on those two CDs and they really opened my eyes to trance.

Then, when for the first time heard Jones & Stephenson's First Rebirth in 1993 I knew I no longer had any choice. I was hooked for life

My friend let me borrow his copy of Oakey's Tranceport

There was a Hungarian guy in Florida, around the age of 40, and all he listened to was Trance. All he had was a Dodge Neon, no house, nada! But he had a very nice collection of trance cds, mostly Ministry of Sound. The first one I listened to was the Trance Nation mixed by ATB & Acosta After having listened to that, I copied about 50 of his cds. Still listen to some of those classics...

The first time i heard trance was at this party back in '98. and it wasn't the set who convinced me to listen to this kind of music, it's just one song i heard. It was Astral Projection's Mahadeva. What a song!!!

I listened to trance stuff in 1999 but the first real one was Ferry's set @ Trance Energy 2000, it really blew me away, I needed more!!!

Posted by Glenn-Holmes on Apr-05-2004 15:18:

well there were some but the most reflective were
ayla - angelfalls
vincent de moor - eternity

the first set really blew me way was ferrys i dont remember from where and when...
just remember he opened with the magnificant
way out west - horizons!!

i can say that since 2000 till the tsart of 2003
i loved only uplifting melodic and vocal club-trance
but gabriel & dresden started pushing me to the prog. side (my favs. since than) and from that spot i fell in love besides the genres i wrote above also in progressive housh tribal new york and break
another favs. in those genres are markus schultz junkie xl
chab luke chable sander klinenberg..

by the way first track i remember i loved by g&d is track 13 from in search of sunrise 3 (dont remember the name of track...) and the first of them really knocked me of my feet was of course their brilliant remix to andain - beautiful things

dave dresden & josh gabriel
i admire you!
i had to be a little bit sensitive

the DJ Sammy - Heaven CD got me into electronic music and Binary Finary - 1998, PVD - For An Angel etc... got me into trance and told me what good electronic music is.
