Evil1 Solid Globe- Sahara = Overrated

I'm tired of people ranting and raving about this track, I personally feel this track is overrated....its good but not THAT good.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Posted by Unreal on Apr-06-2004 00:34:

Nope, It actually is THAT good. And this is coming from a guy who got bored with trance for awhile and went to prog. Sahara brought me back.

Posted by elena on Apr-06-2004 00:37:

what constitutes a song being overrated?
bored TAs posting nonstop about it?

Posted by spacechica on Apr-06-2004 00:40:

I think it's a great song still-- just because a song is getting heavy rotation doesn't mean it's not so great...

Posted by Matt Jay on Apr-06-2004 00:49:

It's a great song and deserves all the attention it gets (for now cause it's new).

As the rush comes on the other hand.....

I think Kalahari is better, and I think North and South Pole are better than both Sahara and Kalahari.

it is my favorite tune of 2004 so far. if thats any indicator.

Posted by Radagast on Apr-06-2004 01:37:

I don't think the original is overrated. But the Coldharbour remix will be I think.

Talking

I think Sahara is bloody awesome actually.

its not that bog standard trance I keep hearing a lot of, its very unique, those sounds are mental, and that guitar bit reminds me of Star Guitar by The Chemical Brothers, superb track!

Posted by mndeg on Apr-06-2004 02:16:

yeah but kalahari is good

It's about time somebody started this thread. I never really did like this song and just about every "trance" DJ is playing this song out. Markus Schulz just premiered his remix of it on the GDJB last night and I'm sure there's a bunch of new remixes in the work.

I'm sick of the original and that's not making the remixes any better.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Apr-06-2004 02:27:

i really dont see the greatness in this song... guess it just doesnt appeal to me

Posted by armandzadza on Apr-06-2004 02:33:

Never cared much for that track.

Posted by th0m on Apr-06-2004 03:17:

It seems that songs that everybody knows about are always bad and overrated, and that the really good ones (note; With very good and very bad I mean the opinions generally expressed by others, and with that I mean that someone posts a thread about a song that is overrated, because there are hardly ever threads about songs that are underrated because it is so much easier to bash a track than it is to get or give credit for one) are the ones nobody ever hears about.

I wonder, if a track gets so much airtime (or whatever you want to call the 'attention' DJ's give to a track ie playing it in their sets) then either the DJ must like it a lot, or the crowd who he/she is playing for must like it. I don't see any other reason for playing a track, but IMO either reason is a justified one for playing the track.

And I know there will probably be some comments that 'mainstreamers' will like the track, or people who don't know a whole lot about trance will like it and it will get hyped (like ATRC did), but if thats the audience that likes it, so be it. What are you gonna do about it anyway?

Just my 2 cents.

You can say everything ^^^^you want^^^^ but for me that track is not that great.

Posted by mcdpitt on Apr-06-2004 03:55:

Posted by Dmatrox on Apr-06-2004 04:24:
