iLLicit - Tribalair

A new track by me. Definitely not trance, so for those not interested don't read on.

I made this track last week, because I wanted to experiment with a new compressor with side-chain I found. I guess you can hear it when you listen to the track.

Made it with my beloved FL Studio and some VSTi's and off course a lot of samples.

Im still spinning Outblast! Cant wait to hear this one.

Great production quality. I hear you used a lot of elements of your Billie's Jeans remix.

Nice dark air.

These vocals are coool man!

Yep you used some great sounds in this one. The compressor gives a great waving "Benassi" effect, suits well. Gotta have that one!

No further comments. Got to say, style is not really my taste, but IMO this is a great production!

wow, very groovy! sounds a bit like the sensation black anthem 2003, great!

Very nice! I think you could do with turning that compression down a tad though. I know you were using it experimentally, but in places it felt a little too over compressed, ie. where you have a break and the bass whooshes back in. Still, should sound awesome on a big rig! I also liked the uses of the generic drum machine sounds, well placed and not clichd.

Do you spin similar sort of tunes that you make? If so I wouldnt mind hearing some sets of yours!

Thanx for the replies everyone!

I don't think I will turn the compressor down. It just gives the right feel to this track, so I guess I'll leave it to this.

Off course my production style is in line with the sets I spin. You can check out some of my sets at my webpage:

Anyone else to review?

great stuff, very interesting percussion.

loving that growling bassline..

the breakdown is amazing, very dark and haunting.

brilliant track! send it to Markus Schulz.

Markus Schulz? Hmmm, I don't know, don't think he is into this kind of music. I'm thinking of sending it to the BC label of James Holden, seems to be more up their street.

haha me too, cant believe i missed this one i better d/l

mate, the breakdown is fucking mint, any chance you can do a 2nd mix with similar beats and stuff to outblast but keeping the same melody? coz if you could, that would be the bees knees (for me)

but yeh its a nice tune, only a bit to proggy for me, but thats just down to the music i like rather than it being a bad tune or anything, coz its quality (as always)

Now dees is nice mate, love that weird noise, totally signature really works.

Bassdrum I'm not keen on. That is, until the bass comes in then it's fine.

Seems to be missing a little bit of life somewhere - don't ask what I mean, I can't explain just needs maybe one of those plugs like rubytube or something just to give the top end a little sheen or something. Might just be me though, so take that with a pinch of salt. Could be needing more percussion (hihat wise), not sure. Y'know what I mean, you listen to something and just think it so put it down.

This is nice and experimental. I'd love to hear this out and see what happened to the dancefloor.

am loving this one..fresh new sound for me.

very well produced indeed.
Just out of interest how long did you spend on this project?

Posted by iLLicit on Apr-26-2004 09:21:

To come up with the main theme and beats it took me about two days.
After that I did some sequencing, adding effects and stuff and further finetuning the track. This took me several hours spread over 3 days or something.
So all in all the track took me about a week to produce.
