I'm going actually, mainly for the sake of showing a gods virgin what all the fuss is about. But Freeland and j00f is a bonus.
Allough I am working 8am on Saturday! I'm gonna be cutting it fine and in no mood to deal with the general public (despite being a shop assistant).
Also whats Jules like, despite his fairly commercial (radio 1) appeal I hear his mixing isn't bad. Is this true? What about his tune selection at somewhere like GK, its not cheese is it?
i havent seen jules before, will be an interesting one, ive refrained from jumping on the anti-jules bandwagon before hearing the guy. More going for Above & Beyond tbh.
Oh and ive got guestlist entry woot

| Originally posted by Spin Doctor Depends. Youll deffo get more of a commercial set from him at Gods or GK, than say The Arches or The Gallery. Last time I was at Gods and he was on he played an absolute blinder. Some awesome tunes and flawless mixing, so my advice is to just go and see how things pan out on the night. You might be pleasantly surprised. |
i used to like jules and still like his radio show but last time he was at slinky he was awful, poor mixing poor tune selection tried to scratch lie halliwell but failed.
he just played german hard trance/hardstyle pretty much all nite
Stick with JooF then when hes done stay upstairs with Freeland.
That is a quality night.

when i was at gods in february and jules was on with ferry he was terrible, his tunes were random and some VERY cheesy. his mixing was awful, no set structure, slamming crossfader style transistions and he didnt seem to know what gains were.
just a warning.

CraSHer[UK], youll have to post back how he did when you return!
Jules was nothing special, just average.
Above & Beyond owned me!
just got in from work, *sigh*
Jules was unbelievebly mediocre. It wasn't bad, wasnt good. Felt a bit wierd actually, it was just ok, just enough to keep me even tho i wasnt all that bothered.
What did make me laugh was he ended on Satellite and it was like he'd just discovered how to use the effects on the cdj. He was looping diiferent parts, trying to tease us i suppose, but towards the last break downdown he looped it and the like sped it up continually, i'm presuming with the intention of bringing it back on the "singing satellite vocal" only it started from begining of the loop again and we got about 5 seconds of normal speed before the breakdown.
Also does jules always drink red wine from like a goblet in the dj booth?
And jules attracted some idiots unfortunatly which made him less bearable, they were shouting "rewind", "roll another fat one", "jules we love you" at any available oppurtunity. twats.
Above and Beyond were similar, no stand out tunes as far as I was concerned. Allough the enthusiasm of one of the duo was entertaining (guy with glasses) he was really enjoying himself. While his colleague did 70 percent of the mixing.
J00f however was awsome. He played some remix of Prodigy - Voodoo People, which i thought was fantastic, highlight of my night. Didn't really catch freeland, wasnl't much atmosphere in the nitrogen room thingy. I really enjoyed Chris Turner upstairs too as i took a break from A&B.
All in all, not the best night at gods but better than staying in litchfield (really hate litchfield) as some mates did. But maybe a nights sleep would have stopped me being so irritable at work. Anyhow I'm rambling and i'm gonna go and chill out ion frount of mty new west wing dvd's with a few cans of pedigree
