Party Hat Spun my first two gigs the last two weeks!

soo.... after 3 months of spinning... i spun my first gig two weekends ago in nyc... it wasn't a very good experience. the tables were in bad condition and i only had 1 speaker.... hehe. it was kinda ghetto... but i had fun. and last week i spun another gig down in washington d.c. that was a whoolllle lot better. i had m3d's to use (just like home) with a pioneer djm-3000. it was soooooo much fun to play on a loud sound system. i just loved how it was just booming and i was spinning it! the crowd was sorta feelin the music too which was pretty nice. I was focusing so hard on the beatmatching cause I was so scared of a trainwreck, but I definitely pulled it off without any mistakes.... however i must say the mixing was kinda boring cuz I was trying to beatmatch so hard.. lol. anyways, i'm hoping for more to come in the future. (sorry, had to share my story!)

congrats, i 've only played on a really loud system about a half dozen times and it rocks. it makes me not want to play on my bedroom set up.

Good stuff. Once you have the first gig out of the way, things tend to improve.

It took me three gigs to start feeling comfortable playing in a club environment. Looks like I have a couple of livesets coming up this month, and I'm really looking forward to them.

good for you! i hope you'll play again and again in the future.. in about 1.5 months i'll spin in a school party. It will be an important party because there will be members of a production org. too, and that will be my first gig.. can you give some advice?

congrats man and good luck for the future. I dont mean to sound retarded and lunatic-like but im glad for your sake that you played on a shit system to start off with. Im sure you wouldnt have preferred for a first gig and i wouldnt like it either, but you've probably gained a great deal of experience more than someone who would play on a perfect set-up all the time.

It makes you more flexible with equipment your not used to using day in day out at home or whatever, and im sure the gig you played after with a goooood setup made you feel much more comfortable and you probably spun much better , and im sure the experience of playing on such a system your not used to playin will come in very handy sometime in the future

but enough with the pessisimistic bs , well done and keep it up and with a bit of effort on ure part, get to know a few people out and about and ure local reputation will soar and ull start to get known

its taken me 4 years to get noticed in a city known for cheese crap so if i can do it ne one can

Laderz

Yah man congrats! I had my first gig 2 weeks ago and man is it ever awsome. (I take it that feeling totally @ home behind the decks @ my first club gig is a good thing! ) Your right, it's so much better on a BOOMING system!

Don't feel too bad, I've been doing this for about as long as you and haven't done any online radio things. The closest I've gotten to playing out has been having a friend over in my room while I record a mix.

Hopefully that will change this fall, though, as I was recently offered to play at a local talent promotion sort of event.. ::fingers crossed::

You should consider spinning at AfterhoursDJs, it's a great way to get a bit of international exposure, everyone there is very friendly and supportive.

Only problem is I don't have decent upstream bandwidth at home (14kb/sec), and here at school the connection isn't very reliable.
