Trance Genre

My freaking lordy there are soo many differents types of trance it drives me insane and there are some that sound like it could be two different types of trance... and im sure no one cares but damn i want to be able to distinguish them but i cant... ahhhhhh.. can someone list all the types of trance

don't worry too much about the genre's it doesnt matter

just listen to it, and pay a bit of attention to what people call it. eventually you'll learn to associate different genre descriptions with a certain sound.

and htats all the genre names are good for is describing the music

Be flexible. Many productions can fall under more than one label. I'm a picky genre junkie, but I prevent it from driving me insane by allowing multiple labels. Hyphens are your best friend.

dont pay ANY attention to that peice of shit. I mean I guess it has the basics, but it's totally biased.

You shouldn't even worry about genres, but all you need to know is the main sub-genres...

Epic/Melodic
Progressive
Hard

Something has to fall under one of those in one way or another...

Just listen to whatever music you like and don't label it. As soon as you start labelling it, you limit yourself to a certain kind of music.

As far as the guide goes, whoever made it is pretty biased about Trance and its subgenres.

Of course it is, it's a critic after all. And sincerely, I can't disagree with much that is said there.

As for the main sub-genres, there are many others: acid trance (there would be no trance as we know without this one) and psy-trance, for example.
