Behold, my arse.

"read this, and let them know what you think:"
why, so we can be more leet than them? Who the f*ck cares what they think lol.

I would agree with most of what was said on the discogs board. The only point that I would argue is that commercialization does not necessarily lead to decline in quality.

Posted by Frase on Apr-10-2004 02:42:

At the end of the day, its peoples opinions, something that thread starter on discogs has failed to realise, what is ones man's music is another mans noise

Posted by A.J. on Apr-10-2004 03:06:

Those guys have some serious hate for trance!!!

Posted by torontotrance on Apr-10-2004 03:13:

most are ex tranceaddict now progaddicts who deny they listened to it. Assclowns in the tta's book.

Now there is a trance underground, just no one hears about it cuz it is not commercial. Believe me they exist and they exist in big numbers, most throw parties in the middle of nowhere. An underground scene for most genres exist, just you never hear about it because it is underground.

Discogs.com is a fucked up site, I posted in their like forum shit.....for the mods to correct the TCR release history but they never did...

Posted by Boomer187 on Apr-10-2004 03:20:

damn, if I wasn't so lazy I'd register there and post up:

"Trance killed my father,

and raped my mother"

I think I have grown immune to closedminded haters. There seems to be a ton of them out there, so I doubt I can do anything the decrease theri numbers by complaining about them.

Posted by Radagast on Apr-10-2004 03:23:

They may be haters, but most are far from close minded. If you decide to post something there just remember that you're doing exactly what stupidisco is doing here. Being a moron.

yep yep totally agree with that
and yea..as long as WE like it who gives a damn. i mean even TAs have arguments and shit about some songs they think suck , but other ppl think are damn good...in the end it doesn't mattter right

Posted by armandzadza on Apr-10-2004 03:34:

So let me recap the points that the discogs poster is making:
1. Modern trance is predictable and formulaic.
2. Because of its predictability, it is unable to put listeners into a state of trance.
3. Trance has become mainstream music.
4. As trance became mainstream, the production quality has suffered as labels sacrificed their integrity in return for profits.

While you can make exceptions for some artists and labels, the points brought up by the post are mostly valid.

Bah, flame all you want!

Posted by b4k-oz on Apr-10-2004 03:46:

Guys, it's not hate---it's fear

For the longest time they've listened to their music and thier minds have just closed up. Never to be opened again. I think we can refer to them as old timers now bcuz they can't open their minds to the new music.

There is nothing wrong with hip hop, alternative or rock--when it's good-it doesn't matter what it is.

Having said this, I'm also tired of hh, alt and rock---it's all beginning to sound tiresome---it's time for the future and the future is Trance.
Trance has broken a new barrier, and it's scaring ppl.

Long Live Trance!

Just my opin

LOL

Rock ON!!!!!

Let the force be with you!

Posted by DeleriuM2K on Apr-10-2004 06:20:

wow, a board more elitist than TA

its all about the fucking politics with these people, its not about the sound, its not about the music. which is ironic because thats what they claim to be, "about the music".

A track is labelled as shit even before its heard because the genre it happens to belong to is trance I cant stand these fucktards

none of them even mentioned progressive
WTF

Posted by Zombie0729 on Apr-10-2004 07:33:

i'm not really sure I understand what he is saying. The vagueness in his post is quite ironic. I mean, he doesn't give one example of any type of trance. I'm wondering, if he's aware that there are about 20 sub-genre's of trance, and furthermore which one is he pointing to? How can anyone respond to this post, you would have to assume that you are thinking the same thing and the same way that he is...

edit:

did u guys read this post? lol...

quote: "It is FUCKING IRRTATING to have some 22 year old snot nose kid ranting about how "you guys are just not aware of the trance underground"

REALLY!!! no more irritating than a past-it old-timer telling me whats fucking cool. Fuck yourself bitch

lol he was talking to all the guys who said they have been around trance before it was around.

Posted by zoomzoom on Apr-10-2004 07:59:

What haters.

These are the types of EDM fans I don't like anyways. They listen because it's 'underground'. Who cares if 100 or a 100 million people listen to your favorite music? It should be about what YOU love, regardless of how many or few listen.

I swear, it's the opposite of the pop-music problem, where people listen because everyone else does. These guys listen because NO ONE else does.

Juvenile threads deserve juvenile responses!

The power of trance is the accessability.

Man, he was there before there was a thing called "techno". He's so cool.

A true authority.

So what else is new?

Also, note that even though both 1,3 and 4 are valid for house, prog and techno, trance is the only genre that gets slagged off.

Don't worry, you're not missing out on anything. Its nothing that hasn't been said here before, and is also boring dribble. Its the opinion of yet another one of the billions of people on this earthyet another opinion that I don't give a damn about. Yey!
