-- Which was it?
Which was it?
Maybe this has been asked b4, but as a new TA I'm curious...
What was the very first track, mix or set that blew you away (got you hooked or helped your taste evolve into)and brought you to enjoy Trance?
I'll start 1st. For me it was:
Halcyon and On and On - Orbital, '92 U.K. Release
Got some play in the '95 cheezie flick "Hackers" and in "The Saint"
The best Write up about Orbital's Sound:
"Its difficult to gauge Orbitals exact sound, other than to say it incorporates elements of jazz, techno, classical, and rock music in an orchestrated, highly technical electronic sound. Orbital dont create alternate universes for the listener to inhabit, as much as they find space and peace for us to inhabit within this universe, calling on us to open our eyes and minds...And then the beat oh the beat 4/4 and how, the most 4/4 beat ever, mechanistic and metronomic, tapped out by a computer, an industrial device. Its so strong that the guitar and voice and piano vanish for a while...it is the sound of being lost and alone at 4 AM when the crowds have long since broken up and floated home on the breeze, sitting on a kerb or roadside somewhere, one last melody and one last beat existing at the instant before dawn, waiting to be evaporated with the waking day and coming sun."
This song did it for me, and made me search out for more, which eventually led me to Gatecrashers and the rest is history.
Long Live Trance!
