Depeche mode

This is one of the bands that got me into digital music. Their productions were so ahead of its time and still now I consider them amazing. Their music is so dark, yet so reassuring!

What do you think of Depeche and what got you into electronic music?

Posted by NoisyNeil on Apr-11-2004 17:37:

I like Depeche Mode too, especially 'Enjoy The Silence' ... and a former chart show in Holland got me into electronic music. It was called Dance Trends and was every Saturday evening on Radion 538. Wessel van Diepen was the hoast of the show ,18:00 - 20:00 if I'm right! I listened it every week (in the year 1999 something like that), and remember tunes like:
Out of Grace - Anglia
Tiesto - Sparkles
Chakra - Love Shines Through
Southside Spinners - Luvstruck (Marco V!!! )

Before Trance there was Depeche Mode

Posted by rainbow_marble on Apr-11-2004 18:40:

im a dave gahan fan, depeche mode is great. however they did not get me into the electronic scene... i'd say that orbital - halcyon and belfast were the two songs that got me into the electronic scene and influenced my tastes the most.

I've been a fan of DM since 1983. Saw them with Nitzer Ebb on their Violator tour at the Orlando Arena. One of my all time favorite groups.

I LOVE DEPECHE MODE!!

Posted by Afterhours82 on Apr-11-2004 23:47:

I LOVE DM. I love all of their work but Never Let Me Down Again and Waiting for the Night are two of my all time favs. They were among the first to bring us electronic music with melody and hence the roots of trance can be traced to them.

Also just take a look at this picture to the left

Depeche Mode rules, I still listen to them time to time

I dont think youll find anyone who doesnt like Enjoy The Silence! Awesome tune.

I don't mean to sound like a queer or nothin' but I think depeche mode is pretty sweet.

- Orgazmo

Depeche Mode and trance fans seem to go hand in hand :P I think this same question was asked on psynews.org and the response was similar. Favorite songs: dreaming of me, everything counts, enjoy the silence, strangelove, question of love, shake the disease...

Damn, there are a lot.

Depeche Mode are my all-time favorite group, hands down. I've got almost all of their albums except for an early one. Something about them hits home with me, except imo Exciter sucked big time compared to previous releases.

I'm not sure if anyone answered the pvd signature grammar question.

,,des Jahres" is the genetive (possesive) form for, in English, "of the Year" The signature is saying PvD is the DJ of the year. I can't remember the rest of the quotes on the signature, but I think he should change ,,ein Musik" to ,,eine Musik" since Musik is feminine... kann irgend jemand das zustimmen?

The year but in this case DJ of the Year.

Posted by Cal on Apr-12-2004 15:59:

Depeche Mode is the shit!

I've got all of their albums/singles encoded at 192

It just amazes me how ahead of their time they were, and there still producing quality tracks, like free love for example. Plus there's Gahan's voice, what more do you need?

If you have the original pic would you redo the text that was added? And then send me the file so I can use it in my sig? It would have to be the same size that it is now.

Well wouldn't it be like this as I thought I was trying to say:

A people, A music
A berliner, a DJ of the year

I had no idea I was trying to masculinize (is there such a word) music. I don't want to feminize (another made up word I guess) Paul van Dyk.

See what happens when you put the Babelfish in the wrong way in your ear!
