Hello! Why are Americans so fat?

Check this out. saw this on the news about a couple of months ago. then saw the web site just now.

quote:

In the U.S., we eat more than 1,000,000 animals an hour

In 1972, we spent 3 billion a year on fast food - today we spend more than 110 billion

Left unabated, obesity will surpass smoking as the leading cause of preventable death in America

i want to see this film.

the guy risked his health to make this film.

Some Americans are simply idiots, im sorry to say...tahts stupid how much money they spend on fast food, im SURE they are the leading spenders in this category.

People, McDix for breakfast is not a good idea!

No fucking way in hell you eat 1.000.000 animals an hour. That would be truth if it considers the bacterias in the food.

They're talking about the whole country, mate: there are 250 million Americans, so it's not really that hard to believe

Lira, I dont think thats possible! For example, a pig after you kill it you get around 60kg of meat. Let's supposed they kill 10.000 pigs an hour. That's 600.000kg or 600TONS of pig/hour. Times 24 hours per day, that's 14.400.000kg or 14.400TONS of pig in a DAY! Not to mention the other 990.000 animals per hour still left to be killed. It's totally impossible.

I'm an American and I hate fast food. The closest to fast food for me is once in a while I will eat at Subway. I am definitely not overweight.

I'm an American. I hate fast food. But often that's all I can afford. And I'm nowhere near being fat.

TACO BELL IS JUST SO GOOD I CAN'T HELP MYSELF

I was in Brazil last summer and I saw this store called "The American Traveler" so I went inside to check it out...it was all like one piece bathing suits for obese chicks and the ugliest clothes imaginable. Even all the fast food places down tehre were called like "Billy's Burgers" and other American names. It was embaressing b/c my 100 person American tour group seriously doubled the # of fat people in Brazil for the two weeks I was down there.

ok 2 years in ago in russia - 6'1" 174 lbs

Since moving to US - 6'2" 210 lbs

you definitely get fatter here

and another funny thing, some bitch tried to take McDix to court claiming she got fat off it and no one told her that's what would happen when you eat alot of it.

maybe im wrong ...but when i go to US i just can't help eating more than i do when im there ....i mean u guys have so many foods available and anywhere ....wherever u go can find a lot of cookies cake chips and all ....so i think it's harder to resist ..like eating this ...then a lil of that ....then i think yeah it's cool u get all these sodas and drinks but ....im glad in a way we don't have all this choice otherwise i guess i would be drinking this all the time ....and ...peanut butter ....well we got some here ...but it never appealed me to try to buy the ones we had here ...

then fast foods ....sometimes i go there ...it's fast and near my campus ....but this food is definately not good

besides, I like fat people. and whats so wrong with being fat, why do you all look down on it?

I live with my mother, and she never NEVER has fast food.
My dad I lived with until I was 11 I believe, and he had fast food 5-6 a week and/or 3-4 days a week and maybe for breakfast and dinner. He never gained any weight(and he's not fat) but he worked out every day. *Bet his cholesterol is morbid* Anywho, he stopped buying fast food ...unless trips to amusement parks/beach, etc.

But, to stay on topic, Americans eat a lot because they do. Most do it for comfort and should find other ways to deal with emotional stress than eating.

Some people are just obese morbidly obese because of heredity...still...it's a lifestyle, you can change it. I believe U.S. was the highest fat country, maybe, maybe I'm wrong. Up there though.

i hate bitchy fat people. the ones who try to dis you, but dont realize u can just call him a fat ass and he'll shut up..

when i look at a fat person, i ecide for myself whether they are fat or not. nobody else can tell me otherwise. and i generally think that, that person doesnt care what they eat, or how much they eat. i see people complaining in documentaries and shit about bein fat. ok, stop sitting on your ass all day, go the supermarket, buy some healthy food, hit the gym, and quit feelin sorry for your self.

and i praise those ive seen do gastric bypass. some people just cant follow a diet. and when ive heard people say, "ive tried all the diets", i really dont believe that. they may have tried it, but they couldnt stick with it. perhaps if they tried harder, that particular diet would have worked

Posted by MERLIN on May-02-2004 06:48:

yea lots of people get gastric bypass surgery or as i like to say, getting your throat sewed to your anus.

True, but it's a lot less if you make the same calculation with fish or chicken.
