I AM SO SICK OF THIS STUPID BACKWATER HICK STATE FUCKING OVER DECENT HONEST HARDWORKING CITIZENS FOR NO REASON WITH THEIR ARBITRARY LAWS AND STEALING MONEY FROM THEM. IT IS NOT MY FAULT THAT THERE IS A GIANT DEFICIT IN THIS STATE. I EARNED MY FUCKING MONEY, STOP ASS RAPING ME FOR IT YOU MONEY-GRUBBING PRICKS!
now that I got that out
In February I got a speeding ticket in the Rockville area of Maryland for going 51 in a 35. The officer was nice enough so he lowered my speed to 44 and said it dropped the fine to $65 and made it so there would be no points off on my license. Well apparently he neglected to notice that I was from the shithole state of VA and that we have backwards arbitrary laws.
Despite the officer and the ticket he gave me explicity stating that I only had to pay the $65 fine and that NO POINTs were taken off my license, I just recieved a letter from the DMV ******s in Richmond stating otherwise.
The pricks say that I now have to register for an 8-hour driver improvement course and pay an additional $75 fee or my license will be suspended infdefinatley. AND that I have 3 points taken off of my license b/c of the speeding.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It says that any person age 18 or 19 that goes between 1 and 9 mph over the speed limit has to do this!!!!!!!!
WHAT THE FLYING FUCK KIND OF RETARDED ABITRARY SHIT IS THAT!!!!!!!!!???? It sounds like they tailored the law specifically to my case so they could get more money out of me!!

If I can come up with a cohesive statement, I'm really considering writing my congressman. This is ludicrous and insulting.
I am a broke student. I don't have $75 lying around, nor do I have time in my schedule to attend some class that is probably an hour away in Reston or something.
This was my first offense, other than that speeding ticket my driving record has been perfect for 3 years.

damn sucks dude.. this may be a moot point, but do you have the officer's name and badge number on the ticket? is there anyway you can call the police station and see if he would be able to help you out at all.
I dunno, seems like a far out scheme, but hey, maybe the officers from MD can grease the wheels of the beaurocrats of VA.
and blame VA DMV.. not the state.. cos i live here and I love it

I got a 71 in 55 and had to take the 8 hour course. Its long but not that bad. I had it with a cool guy who was like "I know you dont wanna be here, so i'll make it fun." It wasn't necessarily fun, but it helped pass the time.
I would call up the frederick police and ask them to look up your license #, and see who was the officer who wrote you the ticket.
Thats what i'd do at least.

that does suck. in october 2002, i was going 90 (on 95) in a 65 and i got probation before judgment- no points added ON (they don't get "taken off" 
), and had to pay a very hefty fine-- $280.
but i was happy i didnt have to go to driving school....so yeah, either my judge was the shit or the state of VA is uber gay.

virginia sucks ass, i agree. last summer i got a ticket for fishing without a license. ok so maybe that was my fault. but, the next part is not my fault. i have to call the state in order to get my fine amount. the lady on the phone says one-hundred-and-thirty dollars. so i say one three zero? and she says yes. i send in the check and like 3 weeks later i get it back in the mail. i call back and the fine is $113. at this point its almost to the trial date so i have to get the check there fast so i fedex'd it. fucking dumb southern accent.
texas has the best traffic laws. i got a ticket going 105 in a 65 and i got a lawyer and my ticket disappeared forever. only cost $250.
