Five AM Records launch paid CD mailing list

Thought all you Trance heads would be mighty interested to know:

From April 2004, Five AM Records in the UK will be offering a paid mailing list allowing fans of the label to subscribe to receive CD promos of forthcoming releases two weeks before any vinyl promos are available, and four weeks before the general release date.

One of Five AM's rostered artists Gareth Emery (aka GTR) commented: "This is a fantastic way for up and coming DJs who are comfortable with CDs to get hold of our releases at a similar time to the big names and well before the vinyl release. We're keeping the numbers on the list fairly limited so subscribers can be sure they're getting a real exclusive. You only have to glance at the last ten releases on Five AM to see the consistent quality the label has delivered and there's more of the same lined up for 2004."

Some of the latest releases out on Five AM include: Hemstock & Jennings - Mirage of Hope 2004 / Plastic Boy - Live Another Life / GTR - Mistral and Sunscreem - Perfect Motion (Way Out West Remix).

I reckon it's an awesome way of getting upfront and out there, if you don't mind using vinyl/cd's. What do you guys think?

From the email, it seemed to me like the cost was pretty much the same as just buying them a few weeks later?

unfortunately no, it's a UK based record label. They had releases like Plastic boy - Live another life etc. Pretty good list considering there isn't anyone who offers this kind of service.

Webby, yeah that may be the case for some releases, but, there have been release like Cern - The message that went through some label rights issues before being signed to Armada Music. That went on for a month or so. I guess that the service is there and probably best for dj's who are regulars out in club land that can take advantage of upfront tunes.
