hardcore

does hardcore sound like happy hardcore except without the happy?
i think i heard it in a guys car, it was extremely repetitive not in a techno kind of way with changes, but in a repetitive repetitive way with NO changes at all, like kazaa music
it's like the kind of stuff you hear late at night on top20 stations

Hardcore has redeeming qualities. It's fun as hell to dance to, but its repetitious basslines don't leave much room for innovation in my opinion.

no, that would probably be trancecore.

Keep in mind hardcore is a genre with as many subgenre as house, so all I can say is: chances are either the bassdrum is distorted or it's very fast (about as fast as drum'n'bass, but with a 4/4 beat).

Lots of different styles of hardcore here. Just wondering though, how do you separate gabber from hardcore?

Posted by Wildfir3 on Apr-15-2004 07:21:

Here we don't talk about gabber & hardcore as musicstyles, but they're different things.

Hardcore: the music genre
Gabber: the person who listens to hardcore

Yea I know, but I've seen people use hardcore and gabba as two different genres over and over. So what is it that these people use to separate the two?

Posted by Wildfir3 on Apr-15-2004 10:34:

i think they're just stupid

Posted by spacetrain on Apr-15-2004 11:10:

Gabba is just constant beats at a ridiculous speed. Hardcore now is much slower than this is has got less trancy to become happier again. If you listened to a scott brown tape you would see the difference as the first half he plays upfront hardcore and in the last half gabba (or some people call it makina (spanish hardcore) There are loads of different types of hardcore which is good as the music would've got as stale as it did in 98-99 with everyone playing the same tunes.

But gabber is indeed the name of hardcore produced in Netherlands as well (or of anything that sounds like Dutch Hardcore).

Ik will hakke!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Wildfir3 on Apr-15-2004 14:01:

maybe they call it that in other countries or something... haven't really heard anyone using the term around here

ROTTERDAM, ECH WEL ^^

Posted by New Wave on Apr-15-2004 14:21:

Well every country has it's own way to call it.
In the good old days I was into Hardcore a lot.
What people say about gabba: it's noncense.

The style is: Hardcore
And the people who are into Hardcore named: Gabbers

The best Hardcore is from 1990 till 1996.
If you want to listen to some CD's listen to : Hellraiser, Hellbound, Thunderdome, Earthquake, Neophyte, Rotterdam Terror Corps.

The hardcore nowadays is called Newstyle Hardcore and is so fucking bad.....

Posted by Wildfir3 on Apr-15-2004 14:30:

U should check out catscan/endymion etc... industrial hardcore

really gives me the good old feeling... i think it's even better than the old thunderdomes

All the hardcore nowadays is newstyle? I find that hard to believe, especially if you listen to the stuff that Genosha Recs. and Hellfish/Producer make. All the hardcore in Holland maybe (but even that I find hard to believe).

Well, it's not a different style....it's just called this way cause it's a tiny but differ than the hardcore from 10 years ago.
And it sucks bigtime.

At the big Hardcore events (Like Thunderdome) you hear the shitty hardcore. But at the smaller they spin the old hardcore from the good old days

It's Hardcore..but new.....and differ but not a new kind of sub-style of hardcore.
