does hardcore sound like happy hardcore except without the happy?
i think i heard it in a guys car, it was extremely repetitive not in a techno kind of way with changes, but in a repetitive repetitive way with NO changes at all, like kazaa music
it's like the kind of stuff you hear late at night on top20 stations
Hardcore has redeeming qualities. It's fun as hell to dance to, but its repetitious basslines don't leave much room for innovation in my opinion.

Lots of different styles of hardcore here. Just wondering though, how do you separate gabber from hardcore?
Here we don't talk about gabber & hardcore as musicstyles, but they're different things.
Hardcore: the music genre
Gabber: the person who listens to hardcore

i think they're just stupid
Gabba is just constant beats at a ridiculous speed. Hardcore now is much slower than this is has got less trancy to become happier again. If you listened to a scott brown tape you would see the difference as the first half he plays upfront hardcore and in the last half gabba (or some people call it makina (spanish hardcore) There are loads of different types of hardcore which is good as the music would've got as stale as it did in 98-99 with everyone playing the same tunes.

maybe they call it that in other countries or something... haven't really heard anyone using the term around here
ROTTERDAM, ECH WEL ^^
Well every country has it's own way to call it.
In the good old days I was into Hardcore a lot.
What people say about gabba: it's noncense.
The style is: Hardcore
And the people who are into Hardcore named: Gabbers
The best Hardcore is from 1990 till 1996.
If you want to listen to some CD's listen to : Hellraiser, Hellbound, Thunderdome, Earthquake, Neophyte, Rotterdam Terror Corps.
The hardcore nowadays is called Newstyle Hardcore and is so fucking bad.....
U should check out catscan/endymion etc... industrial hardcore
really gives me the good old feeling... i think it's even better than the old thunderdomes

but not a new kind of sub-style of hardcore.
