Do you think AMV, PVD, Oakey, Tiesto etc. are better producers than DJ's
I think by far these guys are much better producers then they are DJ's. What do you guys think. I hear lots of these DJ's miss betas and shit a lot... but then again there productions are good. what do you think?
Enlighten me as to the identity of AMV please?
what the hell did oakenfold produce?? starry eyed supprise...bleh...dont even say southen sun, thats all tijs.
Who is AMV. Do you mean AVB? IF so hes a better producer then dj, but his recent productions havnt amazed me.
Tijs & PVD speak for themselves, i dont think there is any dj producer better then tijs/pvd.
I guess the only other great dj/producer combos are sasha, digweed, holden, ferry. Cant really think of anyothers
Hmm... nah.
I think AVB is a better producer than DJ...Ferry is stellar on both counts...Tiesto isn't doing much of anything particularly well lately but I think he's always been a better DJ...PVD is a better DJ...and Oakie is a has-been.
I think every single person on that list is a better DJ, possibly with the exception of PVD. I think Oakenfolds Bunkka was a good attempt, but not bettr then hearing him dj. Tijis studio album was sort of the same way.
Well Oakey just steals Andy Gray and Steve Osbourne's work, so I'm not going to count him as a producer. In that sense, he's a much better DJ.
Armin's definitely a better producer...same with Tiesto.
PvD is a better DJ though - while his productions have been amazing, I just can't get over the fact that he recycles sooo much of his stuff. Not only that, but he manages to mesh house, techno and trance together very skillfully.
armin used to be a superb dj as did tiesto, they both used to be spot on mixing & structure in 99/2000/2001 then something went horribly wrong and they both stopped putting the effort in.
Pvd is an amazing producer...hes probably the tightest out there for club trance.. as a dj his sets never bore me but his mixing is only occationally good at the moment.
oh and Paul Oakenfol has managed to become one of the most successful dj/producers without the ability to mix or produce a single track.
amazing
FERRY CORSTEN is amazing but I think I might love his productions so much it's dangerous, he's a great dj but that CD right away is by far one of the best I've ever heard!
Oakenfold: By far a better DJ than producer, haven't heard a really good jokenfold production anyway.
PVD: Better DJ than producer, although productions are impressive
Tiesto: Used to be a better DJ than producer, but that has reversed in the past 2 years or so.
Armin: I would say his DJing and producing skills are about equal.
What do you guys think of the technical skills of their mixing though. I thiink Digweed is by far one of the best mixers.. i dont hear him screw up much. but i hear PVD , AVB, Oakey and shit and hear them slip a beat once in a while. Sure they play good music, but sometimes there mixes are to short and noticable.. ya know what i mean. but good to see what you guys think.

A few years ago I liked Tiesto's DJ abilities better but these days I like his productions more especially Traffic.
Of the top trancedj's I think only Ferry's productions are about as good as his DJ skills. Armin's and Tiesto's stuff really sucks lately, so they're better djs
And PVD ... well, except for 'for an angel' I don't like a single track by him, so hes a better DJ too
