The Martian Chronicles

I've had the opportunity to meet Mr. Bradbury and to hear him speak on both a public and private level. He is probably one of the single most talented men, both from an intellectual and artistic standpoint that I have ever encountered. It is refreshing, for me at least, to hear him speak about the "big picture" of Mars exploration, rather then to get bogged down in the politics and logistics that surround the issue.

ah you're lucky, can you go into more detail on his public speech?

personally nu-school sci-fi has nothing on old school, bring back Heinlein and Herbert

When I was at the University of Illinois he came and spoke to the students. He spoke for maybe an hour and a half or two hours, and it was simply amazing. His insights both from being a writer and scientist were captivating. He told stories of his childhood and tied them in with dreams of the future. He talked about inspiration for his books, meanings behind them and his vision of things to come. Even though I got to briefly talk to him personally after the lucture, the entire time he spoke to the packed auditorium he made it seem as if it was a one on one chat. The standing ovation he received at the end of his talk was one of the longest and most sincere I have seen. It was an amazing experience from an inspirational individual.
