A Sad Ending!!! Aaliyah Died :(

this is so damn sad. I love this girl. i cant believe she died! This is a sad ass day man!

"Aaliyah, the 22-year-old Grammy-nominated R&B singer and actress, was killed along with seven others Saturday when the small plane they were in crashed shortly after takeoff in the Bahamas, according to police spokesman Marvin Dames."

"The cause of the crash was not immediately known. The identities of the others killed was also not immediately released, but six were male and two were female, according to Abaco Island Chief Councilor Silbert Mills.

One critically injured man was flown to Florida. The Cessna 402's original destination was Opa-locka, Florida, officials said.

The plane was owned by Florida-based Skystream, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen. Bergen said the plane crashed at the end of the airport's runway at 6:50 p.m. EDT.

"We find it devastating and most unfortunate that after having this world-famous star Aaliyah and her crew select the Bahamas as their choice location for her latest video, the project has climaxed on such a tragic note," said Bahamas Minister of Tourism Tommy Turnquest.

Islander Derek Russell, who worked for the group during the video shoot, said he got the artist's autograph before the accident.

yeah i just found out too...i never really listened to her stuff, but i did know that she was quite popular...its pretty sad that she died this way, but we can't forget about the other 7 ppl. that died with her...feel bad for them too..

Her first album, "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number," came out when she was 15 years old. She has collaborated with R&B singer R. Kelly, who produced her debut album and wrote many of the songs that appeared on it. By age 18, Aaliyah had two hit records to her name. Aaliyah's song "Try Again" earned her a Grammy nomination this year for best female R&B vocalist. She made her feature acting debut in the film "Romeo Must Die." She also had signed on to appear in two sequels to the high-tech thriller "The Matrix." "She was like one of my daughters, she was one of the sweetest girls in the world," said Grammy-winning producer, arranger and composer Quincy Jones. "She vacationed with me and my family together in Fiji. I loved her and respected her and I am absolutely devastated." Bahamian police Superintendent Basil Rahming said the other passengers killed included Scott Gallin, 41; Keith Wallace, 49, of Los Angeles; Douglas Kratz, 28, a representative for Virgin Records, and Eric Foreman, 29, both of Hollywood, Calif.; Gina Smith, 29, of New Jersey; and Christopher Maldonado, 32, of New York. The plane's pilot, identified only as L. Marael, also died. The survivor was identified by police as Anthony Dodd, 34, of Los Angeles. The private plane was leaving the Marsh Harbour airport on a trip to Opa-locka, Fla. when it went down Saturday evening, said police spokesman Marvin Dames. Marsh Harbour is located about 100 miles north of Nassau. After the crash, the mangled twin-engine plane rested about 75 yards from the end of the runway in a marshy area. Workers carried away badly burned bodies and laid them nearby. Pieces of the plane were strewn about the crash site. I liked her music, and her song Try Again was so catchy... life is so f-cked up

I liked one of her songs..but still, she was young.
And they still say planes are the safest way to travel...

I'll be perfectly honest, I didn't really like her music, but this is really, really sad news.

You kinda never imagine these young pop figures to be mortal, and you certainly never envisage anything like this happening to them. Life is really fucked up.

As if. That is soo awful. since she seemed like such a nice girl. the biggest death coverage by the news in the states lately was definitely JFK Jr. with his plane crash.

yea, this really sux. I sorta liked her music, but the fact that shes so young and has such a promising career ahead kinda saddens me up. also theres a rumor that timbaland was on the plane..its a rumor spreading around sactown, but if its true thats even worse. Timbaland makes some of the best beats in the world.

honeslty never really listened to her stuff or saw Romeo must die....she was very pretty girl....but the fact is people have to relise u cant take life for granted....... U can have the world in ur hands and have all your dreams come true ...at the age of 22 and then die the next day in a plane crash...... sucks to think that life isnt to secure !

I'm no r&b fan, but i had respect for her work. Just as somebody said above... you never expect these stars to be mortal... when a tragedy like this happens, it hits you hard. i have no doubt that she was going to go very high in her life & career, which makes it espiecially as sad. she's already gone before she reached there.

Perhaps its not the best time to say this... but this reminds me of when Selena (an uprising singer) was killed by her fan club president in 1995. she was only 23 when that happened... and had a very bright life ahead of her before the tragedy struck.

Yeah, this is horrible... i was not into her type of music, but that doesn't matter, she was still very talented with singing and acting... Why did she have to die, she looked hot too!
