yesterday i read on another forum that Stam is on his way to Lazio
that man.utd and lazio have agreed a �15 or �18 mill. transfer
the source to this news is very reliable, but it can be rumour.
although i think its not since man.utd have fined stam for �100.000 and put him on the bench
you opinions on this "transfer" if it happens to be true
i think its good

I think Stam fits better in the English league than in the Italian, but Ferguson put him on the bench...and that's a good reason to go

He's gonna make 3.500.000 $ a year in Italy.
Fergusson doesn't want him in the Manchester team anymore, because Jaap criticized Fergusson, some Man Utd. players and the English league (FA) in his biography called "Head to head."
It sucks, because Stam is too good for the Italian league (which is going DOWWWWWWWWWWNNNNN)

(� AFP) -- Dutch international defender Jaap Stam has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United following his shock transfer to Italian side Lazio. Stam, who will be formally unveiled by Lazio later Monday after United agreed a 23.6-million-dollar deal at the weekend, accused the English Premiership giants of 'throwing him onto the streets'. The 29-year-old, who signed a new five-year deal with United only six months ago, said in press reports here Monday he was shocked by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's sudden wish to sell him. Stam is reported to have upset Ferguson with remarks in a candid autobiography although Ferguson has denied any link between Stam's transfer and revelations contained in the central-defender's book. But Stam cast doubt on Ferguson's denials, telling the Daily Mail he could not understand why he had been axed. "The only conclusion I can draw is that I have been kicked out by Sir Alex Ferguson," the paper quoted Stam as saying. "I can think of no good sporting reason why I should be sold. For three years I have been in the first team and we have won every trophy we could. "I wanted to sit down with Sir Alex to have a real chat about some of the things that had appeared in my book and caused so much trouble.

I read that because Manchester already spend a lot of money buying players (Veron & Van Nistelrooy) that the board could not accept it if manchester turned down this offer. With Jaap Stam being already 29 and Manchetser receiving the offer of �18 million, and also, as Manchester is a company which has stocks in the market, and therefor has to make profits, it was a logical decision (for them
) to let Stam go... Also, it was a chance for Fergie to get rid of Stam
