I'd withold judgement if I were you, until ATI's next line launches in a couple of weeks.

Radeon X800 Pro will give it a run for it's money for sure.

Posted by dj chex on Apr-18-2004 09:30:

Behold, my arse.

well don't forget the geforce fx was trash too.

Posted by yujie__ on Apr-18-2004 18:23:

why are u comparing next gen hardware to last gen hardware? they havent got the r420 reviews out yet.

Posted by Stories on Apr-19-2004 03:34:

GeForce FX 5950 vs. Radeon 9800XT is a fair comparison. They are pretty much neck and neck in performance but the 9800XT has the edge in image quality...

The 6800 is the next-gen hardware which ATI still has yet to reveal their R420 (the direct competitor).

Posted by ogvh5150 on Apr-19-2004 03:45:

Let's not forget when the nvidiots chose to use steroidal drivers on their cards to cheat the benchmarks.

Posted by yujie__ on Apr-19-2004 05:36:

he also need to change title to, for all video card lovers, your cards are garbage

Posted by dj chex on Apr-19-2004 08:36:

before i judge the new cards, geforce 6800ultra and radeon x800 both need to be avaliable for testing, and the general public.

2x dedicated molex's? pfft... silly

Posted by dj-rob on Apr-20-2004 16:16:

well the dumb thing is that like nrjizer said ATI still has to release their new line, and nvidia just released theirs before.. its like saying the XBOX is better than the PS2, well duh because the ps2 was released many years ago, and it will be like this until XBOX2 and Ps3 are released at the same time.

Posted by dj chex on Apr-20-2004 17:59:

one thing i hated about the fx5800 and fx5900: they sounded like high rpm supercharged leaf blowers!

some comparison info on the r420 adn nv40

Pfffft, tomshardware dont mean jack shit. ATI still out performs Nvidia, and if you disagree, then answer me this:
Why did Microsoft choose ATI as its next card provider for the Xbox2? Buddy, learn the fucking facts before you start blabbering. All major sites and pc mags have benchmarked the two companies and ATI is clearly the winner. I bet your one of those poor people who bought a Nvidia card and is crying like a little panssie cause they cant beat ati cards.

your full of it...ATI will also have the edge...just like when 3dfx lost to Nvidia..now Nvidia will lose to ATI

Posted by dj chex on Apr-29-2004 08:12:

i guess we will have to wait and see. Remember when Nvidia was gonna release the fx5800, and how much it killed the 9700pro in 3dmark? In reality however, the fx5800 just was a pile of shit. I wouldn't doubt it if nvidia did something else to regain fans. I hope this time nvidia's cards won't be crap.

Posted by yujie__ on Apr-30-2004 01:51:

stop comparing things u cant buy yet. in reality now, the 9800xt is the champ.

Posted by dj chex on Apr-30-2004 05:04:

agree. the 9800xt is still champ. The 9800pro 128mb is a really good deal now; got mine from compU$A for $250.

We know now

This is what they said:
When it comes right down to it the X800Pro matches or beats the GeForce 6800Ultra in game performance and IQ. Compare the price, performance, and IQ of the ATI Radeon X800Pro with the GeForce 6800Ultra, and the X800Pro definitely stacks up as the better value than the 6800Ultra. NVIDIA is today launching an even higher clocked Ultra, no doubt in response to the X800XT-PE. We have yet to even see a retail 6800Ultra for any of the partners so currently I would consider these a non-issue. Also, a lower clocked 6800GT is being introduced but this card is simply not currnetly going to play in the same ballpark with the X800 series from ATI.

The Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition goes even further and burns through these games like a hot knife through butter, besting NVIDIAs 6800Ultra by an easily noticeable real-world margin. If the flagship is what you want, be assured the ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition was the top performer allowing us to play todays demanding games at higher resolution and quality settings than any 3D graphics accelerator we have ever experienced.

glad this is over. Now i should of held off buying a card until these came out. im still happy w/ my 9800pro.

I have an nVidia card, but ATI is not to be pushed aside they have some new technology that will give nvidia chills.
