Nirvana in house/trance mixes

Hi everyone,

When I went to see Ferry spin at the House of Blues in Anaheim, DJ Rap opened with a house set, where she played Nirvana's "Smells like teen spirit". This was the first time that I had heard Nirvana used in electronica. More recently, Pete Tong's essential mix on 03-06-2004 also used a Nirvana song. I'm not a Nirvana fan or anything, but I'm wondering if anyone knows who started this and perhaps if it is catching on to mix in punkish rock into electronica.

Nirvana

Vance Musgrove - Elemental (Orcmusic) has a fantastic spaced out sample from Come as You Are which is not instantly recognisable but always has people asking "Whats that tune, it reminds me of something?"

Classy track from a great young Aussie producer. It's pretty rare though, 500 pressed as far as I know.

honestly, i'm a hardcore trance fan(TA), and i was part of the grunge era as well, and i think its DISGUSTING.

not only are they butchering legendary music, but it doesnt make
for good ELECTRONIC music.

if i had it my way, it would be BANNED altogether to remix nirvana,
or even chili peppers (i've heard that spun live).

just a sheer TRAVESTY

Are you sure you aren't confusing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for the weird-ass melody in Balloon - Monstersound? It sounds a hell of a lot like Nirvana, but... fubar and such.
