What headphones do DJ's use?

We all know how good it feels when you see a superstar with your headphones on. Don't deny it! I've got Sony MDRV700's and whenever I see anyone you know you've done good.

So ladies and gents... What headphones have you spotted on the heads of our idols? And also as a sub-topic.. whats the worst you've seen on a big name dj?

On to start us with..

Ferry Corsten - Sony MDRV700s

Posted by sndh on Apr-23-2004 13:56:

i've got Stanton Pro-dj 2000 headphone, and tiesto has them too.

To name but a few

Sony MDRV700's
Pete Tong
Eric Morillo
Judge Jules
Seb Fontaine
Harry 'Choo Choo' Romero

So has anyone seen a dj with shitty headphones?

Posted by physe on Apr-23-2004 15:30:

Actually, Ferry was in my town a couple of weeks ago and he was using the HDJ-1000s so he probalby switched, unless he uses different headphones everytime.

Funny you should mention that cos i've seen him use them as well! I've seen him more times with the 1000's but I have seen him the the Sony's (mine) so I like to think he uses them...

I'm going to watch him tomoz @Passion so i'll let y'all know what he uses then.

Posted by physe on Apr-23-2004 15:40:

Yeah, I have the 1000s so it's basically the same story for me because I always used to see him with the Sony's and I was suprised to see him with the 1000s.

Keep me posted

Sennheiser HD 25's. I couldn't give a toss who else uses them, i just know they are the mutts nutts!

Altho saying that, O'Bir uses them... but i've never bothered seeing who else does.

Posted by BryZe on Apr-23-2004 18:25:

From the times that I have seen each of these DJ's this is what they had on.....
Tiesto - Sony MDRV700's and seen with Pioneer HDJ 1000's
Ferry Corsten - Pioneer HDJ 1000's
Armin van Buuren - Sony MDRV700s
Judge Jules - Sennheiser HD 25's

HDJ 1000's rule as I have set and love them.

Posted by lcid on Apr-23-2004 18:33:

i like Picotto's headphones...

i feel special because i wear the same kind of panties that Tiesto wears!

Posted by capital zero on Apr-23-2004 18:36:

i'm like the odd man out, but i still like the v600s. they feel more comfortable on my ears... then again... maybe my ears are just gi-normous

He played a few tunes of his album as he's been doing recentley but it was still amazing! He played his remix of It's Time and it went off! Started out with Kyoto and played Sublime later on. I loved it! He played his remix of F Masssif - Somebody and that went off too.

I was speaking to him about his album and he said that he's not planning on doing a vinyl release but he is planning on doing a sampler that has all the released tunes on it. Right of Way, Punk etc. I asked him if Hearts Connected would be on there cos I love that track and he said it would so I'm presuming it'll get a release. I bloody hope so anyways!

I'm new to this so be nice with your flaming!

I saw some Grado headphones that were around 270 in a shop where I live and thought all the top DJs headphones would cost around 250-300. Looking at the ones above they seem to be in the 100-150 region

What is so good about the Grados?

I wish I knew a place to get my headphones costumized like picottos. Thoes things are really bitchin.

Posted by Zombie0729 on Apr-26-2004 20:05:

Posted by mndeg on Apr-26-2004 21:53:

im not a dj but i know
1. sony headphones suck
2. DJ's get paid to use specific brands

Posted by Ste on Apr-26-2004 22:20:

most dj's you will find either use sony's mdrv700s or senhhesers's HD25 (or somethign like that)

i use 700s and i think they mint for completly encapsulating you ear and pulsing the bass down your ear but i find i cant hear much of the bass if the beats contrast too much (ie one is hard and stabby the other is light and fuzzy), which i find now and in the styles of tunes i mix together. but all in all theyre great and i got them for 66 quid. nothing a bit of EQ cant sort till u mix it in anyway.

ive used senhessiers once and i didnt think they were much cop.
