i talked to one of the guys from fire and ice before the track came out, probably around june, he said the expect something like barbers adiago for strings, so i guess that might be why it sounds familiar

Thumbs down

To be brutally honest, I don't like this track at all......

I don't know why its so popular, there really is nothing "catchy" about it at all.... but it sure does seem to be popular... has like 6 threads going at once in the Music Discussion about it.

Hey

Well I'm really proud of this release myself and I'd like to thank Afternative & Origin X in the first place for supplying.

I hope you like this tune
IMHO It's the best tune of the year
It's even in my alltime Top 3 now (which I can never place 1, 2 or 3)

Top 3:
Rank 1 - Airwave
DJ Tisto - Urban Train
Fire & Ice - Souvenir De Chine
(In no particular order that is )

Greetz,
Glaniskanis

Hello!

Best song of the year -- no doubt about it. This one just gets ya right in the heart.

Posted by Leigh on Aug-29-2001 06:35:

this track is terrible - i cant stand tracks with cheesy synths like this. argh!

Posted by luckystrike on Aug-29-2001 12:14:

great tune... lots of emotions!
love this one

Worm Popper

I like the last 4 minutes of this track a lot. However, after listening to the first 4 minutes several times, I feel that it's a ripoff of System F - Exhale. But like I said, the last 4 minutes is magnificent!

tssk tssk

You guys are either uncultivated either you don't know your classics...

This is a remix of Jean-Michel Jarre's "Souvenir De Chine". Composed specialy for his tour through China. Can be found on his "Les Concerts En Chine Vol 2" album (Dreyfus Label).

If anyone's interested, I'd be more than happy to rip the song to mp3 and upload it somewhere... Just post a reply

(For those who don't know Jean-Michel Jarre: he is considered as one of the founders of electronic music (synthesiser eg) along with Vangelis. Go check his Oxygene, Rendez-Vous and Zoologies series.)

Cheeeeeeeeers!

Cool

software is right, and you must have heard of jean-michel jarre. if u havent u know the citroen advert where the citroen people carrier drives past all the roadworks and nearly off a bridge, thats jmj's oxygene or equinox i can't remember which in the background.

Angry nigga plz

nigga plz......

that's softwaVe with a V

Fire & Ice is Laurent Veronnez (currently one of the BIGGEST names in progressive/trance) and Jurgen Leyers (aka DJ Energy which was changed to DJ Fire due to legal matters)

anybody who doesn't like this song, doesn't understand it... that's how i see it...

IMO this song is perfect in all ways... it has power and emotion... the layers are perfectly put together and the beat, melody, and rhythm mix together very well.

the synths used in this song are the same as all the fire & ice songs (excluding Out of Darkness)... so if oyu dont like the synths on this song, then you must not like the synths on all the rest of Fire & Ice's songs...

Fire & Ice did a great job remaking this classic...

Posted by djdl on Sep-05-2001 04:01:

all i have to say is, FINALLY a clean full length version of this incredible song

Great to see the JM Jarre is still appreciated! One of my all-time heroes, Jarre and Vangelis are the ones that got me into electronic music in the first place (before the name "trance music" was even invented I think...).

And "Souvenir de Chine" is certainly one of his most impressing tracks!

And to be specific, if I remember the last time I saw that commercial correctly, it's Equinoxe part 4.

That's uncanny... A local radio station here in Bournemouth used to be called The NRG (pronounced Energy)... It had to change its name for legal reasons and is now called The Fire!

Posted by DJTJ on Sep-11-2001 23:46:

Great tune as well, BTW!

Oh.. My.. God....

This is brilliant. Can someone please tell me where I can get this on vinyl? I will pay like 5x what it's worth :P

Correction, it's actually Oxygene part II.
If someone cares.
