REVIEW: Laurent Garnier @ System Soundbar (04.24.04)
Ive been left compleeeteellyy speachless about this night.
The entire time Laurent Garnier was playing felt soo unreal. I've seen a lot of amazing DJs before in europe and seen some very impressing stuff... but Garnier topped them ALL last night... just amazing! It was juust like malek wrote in his review. Very unique and experimental.. he started off with some more melodic soulful techno, get into breaks, then electro.. and then fucking grimey ass dNb... just amazing. I couldnt stop smiling the entire night!
He basically brought the beautiful warm wibe from paris into system soundbar just for one night!!
i had suuuch a blast dancing the night away on my own... its gona take a lot to top this night.
p.s. major kisses to voodoochil for hooking me up with guest!

One of the best sets T.O. has had.
How can someone mix, house, techno, Drum n bass, jungle, breaks, ragga, hip-hop acapellas, electronica......I know now.

That's all I'm gonna say...Anything else would do this night and DJ no justice. Absolutley bangin' tracks the entire night. Laurent tore the roof off system! He was able to mix tracks and genres together that you would not think work together unless you experienced it last night like Myself and a packed System Sound Bar. He was able to keep the flow going no matter what he was spinning and he very impressive with his technical skills. Most of all...he looked like he was having lots of fun. Great night, great crowd. One for the books.

Still in a state of shock to post a great review so this is just to say it was good to meet enrapture (jamie) and max too and anyone else i may have met last night. Fantastic night and great crowd!

What a night... I'm STILL recovering!
Garnier spun the most original set I've heard to date. Granted my experience is somewhat limited, but he took us on an amazing journey across genres and musical styles. What a great crowd on Saturday night! This just drove home the point for me that System is the PLACE TO BE. Great sound, great crowd, great music. What else is there?
It was awesome meeting all the people I did, Matt, Josh, Ben and Steve from England, I hope this experience is one you will take with you and remember fondly. Great meeting you guys.
As for all the Party Children, glowing, angelic in white! You are the reason I go, the reason I enjoy the scene the way I do. Don't ever change! I hope this was a good warm-up to your send-off, Erika!
Funkenlouis, I don't think I ever properly thanked you for the tickets to B en B, so... Thanks! I had an awesome time. And if Garnier is there or not, I'll be in Montreal next year.
Big thanks to Ryan for the great pictures, and your patience waiting for us to gather... It can be a bit of a challenge to get everybody in one place... also to the System Soundbar staff. You guys rock, from the bartenders to the bouncers, to the floor crew. Very professional and positive attitudes. You make the experience that much better.
See you all at the next event!
This is definitely one experience I will take back with me to England- and hopefully will see some more of you guys when I return in a couple of years!
