Ferry Corsten - Punk (Foylee's Club Thumper Mix).mp3

hi guys, i made this remix a while ago when punk was released. I'm no going to change it anymore, coz i cant be bothered and im happy with it I know it mite sound like the lead is fairly weak, and it probably is, but when u blast it out REALLY fucking loud it seems to work Made it using sidechaining to give it a really bouncey flow feeling so that everything is compressed around the kick. See what ya think. Like i said, im not changing it at all. The idea is that its a "club thumper track" designed to be as hectic as posible! Feel free to share and play in sets, coz its never guna be released, let me know how it goes if it is played in a set cheers guys.

Nice remix. This is one of them club songs that puts a smile on your face when it goes on. Great job on the mix!

what a beat.. i really love the way u used the vocal sample.. really well done, nothin bad to say IMO. solid production werk, that beat is tight.. would kill on a big system..

Posted by broken silence on Apr-27-2004 03:46:

fun to listen to!

well produced deffo! kick sounds a bit weak though-

other than that mint! loved the jumpy sidechain stuff...i think it was a bit too overdone, but nevertheless, great stuff.

I think this is better than original. Can`t say anything special about sounds because I listened it with my crappy speakers. Nice work. I would spin it here in my bedroom-DJing mixes

Posted by christofa on Apr-27-2004 07:49:

its a but too jumpy for my taste, I wish there was a little less emphisis on the side-chaining.

other that that.. sounds good.

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-27-2004 08:38:

cheers guys hehe yeah its mega jumpy, i wanted to see how ridiculously thumpy i could make it

better than the original!! thats a compliment and a half! not true tho :P

The original wasn`t my favourite Ferry track. For me this is better than original which was a bit annoying because it didnt have any variety. In this remix melody isnt annoying. actually its very good

cheers m8 thats always a good thing

Woot! Nice remix! I love it and I'm sure it gonna be a killer on the club! But I do heard the side chain effect on the Kick and bassline together?

Great work mate!

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-28-2004 09:33:

hehe, nah every thing is side chained around the kick, includin the bass glad u like

Posted by josh on Apr-28-2004 10:28:

good work mate! but how to do a side chain on ur kick and bassline? using reason?

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-28-2004 10:33:

i dont think u can do it in reason no. sidechain compressers use one signal input as a trigger and the other input is affected by the trigger. so in this case, the kick triggers the rest of the track, which makes it bounce with the kick.

Hey mate, nice one you got here, very cool and unusual (=original).

Three things.
* could use more mid
* don't like the ploppy kick
* sidechaining effect is a little exaggerated. tho i like the idea.

Original synths, nice pads, cool fx.

cheers dude, like i said, not changing it now.

Posted by BelgianGuru on Apr-28-2004 20:27:

Sweet stuff dude, I'm checking this from the library at college lol. I couldn't resist but click this one Really cool, I like it. Don't change anything !

Posted by PerfectCircle on Apr-29-2004 09:12:

I honestly think with some work on this track (e.g. all of the comments above), this could turn out to be a really damn popular mix!!

I think it would be unreal if you used that main sidechaining theme as the main chorus/climax, mixed the volumes of the layers a little better so you could get the melodies more pronounced so that they're not just a big pulsing screech at times.

I think you're onto something here, I would get back to the drawing board and make something of it!!!

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-29-2004 09:15:

cheers dude, i would but theres no point coz itll never go anywhere, i cantrelease it coz its a remix, and that would be wrong. its not like guna be played anywhere but home

Posted by BelgianGuru on Apr-29-2004 10:28:

Is the sidechaining everybody keeps referring too that wah-wah effect he does on the entire melody except for the kick ? If so, I've been trying like mad to do it with Waves compressor with sidechaining on it, but I can't get it to interact with the kick. Is it something that you can only do with fruity or something ?

Cheers

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-29-2004 12:02:

you can use the c1 side chain compressor to sidechain if u use logic I THINK, i dont know how else to do it with software. the other way of doing it is drawing a volume envelope to similutate it, then copying it everytime there is a beat. prolly be better quality that way

Posted by BelgianGuru on Apr-29-2004 17:47:

Ok, thanks man

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Apr-29-2004 20:38:
