lately ive been getting these mad disk read errors every time i start playing a game ... i called up microsoft but they said i would have to pay them $100 plus shipping and handling the fix the error and balls am i gonna do that ... so i was wondering if ne1 could tell me what the reason for thsi could be and how i mite be able to fix it ... thanks

is it a chipped xbox? i know on mine i get disk read errors all the times on games that haven't been correctly burnt or that are just dirty. Know it sounds obvious but it really is worth cleaning the disk and using a Lens cleaner in the drive. Failing that, as long as it's under warrenty take the ****** back to the shop and get it replaced. People sell original xbox drives on ebay for next to nothing, so, if you fancy taking the cover off you could fit a new drive in yourself?
