this isnt another one of those "oh shit its so g00d" threads (but it is good)
anyhow, im wondering if i can somehow isolate the audio portion of the disc so i can put it on my MD player or burn it to an mp3 cd
does anyone understand what i mean?
does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks
possiably if you could import it into an editing program. im not sure which one or if it is even possiable
I think there is a program called 'nandub' or 'virtual dub' that might be able to do this.
found this but it's trialware -

hmm you can also use total recorder, that records anything that's playing on your soundcard. You'll have to leave the dvd running obviously all 5 hours.. then you can save it to .wav or mp3.
only problem with that it you are likely to get noise on the track
dont use total recorder.... you dont want noise, believe me.
try and rip it instead with some other program...
good luck trying to find something that will rip DVD audio though
Virtual Dub an do the trick. Just export audio as a .wav file.

use smartrip - it creates an audio stream in encoding you want and generates a separate file. You can then cut the parts you want.
I managed to do it with pretty good results. Get a program called DVD decrypter and you can rip just the audio stream. It'll be in an AC3 file format - you can still play it in Windows Media Player. Then convert it to MP3, you'll have to do a search to find a decent program to do it... I think I used "BeSweet". Also, if you want you can cut it using mp3DirectCut to make it short enough to burn onto CDs.
