Exclamation [DD] DJ Nemesis Mixology FMRadio 2004 HiFi: Alpha X [04-20-04] <<download<<

Hey guys, here's the recording from the broadcast I said I'd try and get on here for you. A bit late waiting for the web updates but here it is..

This DD is the uninterrupted HiFi recording of the April 20th set for Mixology radio on 96.3FM Radio Jordan, broadcast from Jordan's capital Amman. It's a solid one hour mix consisting of half pumping progressive, half pumping uplifting trance. A fairly upfront and nicely flowing mix of unreleased or just released tracks with not a bit of filler. The quality turned out amazingly well, so as a result this will be tagged as the next chapter of the Alpha series, under the name Alpha X and will be the first Alpha not intended for CD release.. but instead purely as a free mass distributed promo available through the site.

Right click, then save target as:

Go to the website and have a look around as well:

where there is also a realaudio link.

I was looking forward to having this up here for you guys so I hope you enjoy it

Come on guys! 4 days and 1 reply? Let me know how fast your connection speed is also, our label recently had a server upgrade, so it should be between 160-300 kb/s. Danny, Sean Walsh, Shad0wmaster, and Commisad it would be nice to hear how you guys like it since I know you guys are somewhat on the ball and not easily impressed.. cheers!

I've only had a chance to listen to the first 40 mins but I like it.

Good track selection, I found myself bobbing my head a few times =D

I knew about half the tracks in this set, all ones I like so on a preference/personal bias level, you get a vote there.

The mixing is great, no complaints really. I was playing a video game with sound turned off while I listened in, and then after skimmed through the set again. Transitions are great, technical mixing for the most is great too.

My only suggestion for improvement would be to keep an eye on flow a bit, and with this set in particular, maybe get a tad more creative with the EQs or something to really put a personal touch into it (although I can hear you having some fun during the breakdown at the 55:00-56:00 area).

This is going in my 'keeper' folder =)

and its COMMISAD.. :P Glad you added me to the list, I hadn't thought of myself as someone to be considered 'on the ball' but I can't turn away a compliment =)

Thanks Commisad, glad to hear you liked it! If you listen to the mix again you can sort of pick out stuff.. the objective to me is when it sounds smooth enough that you think what you are hearing is the track itself half the time. Each and every track on there has action on the eq's and in most cases filters also.. in addition to subtle beat juggles in some places creating a double beat/clap sound.
The thing is with filters and eq sweeping is it's most of the time overdone. On some of the tracks though in particular I used the filters and eq to really improve the sound and build of the breaks.
The second to last track [50 min mark] especially it made better. The filtered sound you hear on the build of that is not the track itself at all, but definetely sounded like it was the track when I listened to it afterwards. Overfiltering can ruin a mix though especially for a set thats being recorded and distributed, so I just tried to keep it more professional and smooth sounding so that we could maybe use it as a promo. The sweet thing, is that the filters on my Denon DN-X1500 are perfectly in time to the track to fit in smoother. Sick mixer, I never go anywhere without it now!

I'd love to give it a listen but I don't think I'll get a chance, unless you want to mail me a CD!

Hey Tom...

Another killer set!

I really found myself digging this first track. At first it was so- so but I listened to it a few times and it grew on me so much. Loved the moaning vocal and the "dong dong" sound in it...(i wish i could describe it better hahah). The song also starts off really slow and progresses nicely.

All the mixes flow so well it's almost hard to tell where a new track starts! Great mixing Tom...as technically perfect as I've heard so far.

I also enjoy the song about 16 mins in. I'mnot sure what it's called but I like it!

I LOVE the song after it...the one that starts at about 21 mins...just awsome. I like how after this song the mix seems to speed up a lot but it isn't that noticeable which is impressive.

Maybe the sweeping was a tiny bit overdone and the filters too but I didn't notice it all that much. They fit the style of tracks well.

I love that buildup at 50 mins too. I can't belive that the filter sounds aren't part of the track. It sounds awsome!!!

The only complaint I have is that it gets too trancey fo me at the end. Thats just my personal taste.
I still like the tracks you played...it didn't make me want to turn it off like a lot of trance stuff does! You made me bob my head to trance. CHEERS to that!

Besides all of that I don't have much to say. great mixing, good flow, GREAT track selection...Good work Tom.

Hope to hear more from you soon!

~Sean

ps - I NEED THE TRACKLIST! haha
