Melody with Vocals

Hey guys, how do you make a melody sound good inconjunction with vocals, so far I have the vocals but I can't come up with a medogy that sounds right with the vocals. Any suggestion?

if you know anything about music theory, get a transposer for your vocals and transpose it to the nearest 5th or unisan in your key..

Antares Autotune is also a great plugin for matching the vocals to the melody.
btw: most trance productions don`t put the melody over or under the vocals, while the vocals are playing you treat them as the "lead" and wrap them with pads and stuff and add a synth lead while you give the vocals a wrest. That way the vocals and lead arn`t fighting over the spotlight.
