Tiesto in Sydney last night?
Anyone wanna give us a review and some info on tracklisting etc?
I wanna know what to expect tonight @ Family
I hope you guys had a blast!!!
too lazy to type a proper review, heres mine from TranceTribe:
hoooo weee! Just got back and boy, did Tiesto ROCKED or what??? Just the whole atmosphere lit up when Tiesto's presense came on stage - farkingg mindlbowing!
DAnced through the whole set almost without any breaks, the music gave me so much energy I would have danced for a few more houres.
Tracks that were played:
Rapid Eye - Circa Forever
Tiesto - Love Comes Again [Mark Norman Remix]
Tiesto - Nyana
Tiesto - Just Be
Tiesto - Forever Today
Tiesto - Suburban Train
Tiesto - Lethal Industry
Radiohead - Street Spirit [Tiesto Remix] OMG I SANG MY LUNGS OUT
Marco V - Loops & Tinges Relooped
Clokx - damn I forgot the name
Tiesto - Babar's ADagio for strings
Ahhh tehres more but i can't remember right now
damn and a whole bunch of freakin fresssssssh tracks oMG~!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Left after Adagio for Strings cause a friend had to go to work @ 10am But it was all good...
Was ADagio for stringe Tiestos last track??? or did he play more??????
HAHAHA how abouts when Traffic skipped like crazy and everybody was yelling "woooooooohhhhh" and then started to chant "tiesto tiesto tesiot'
Bragi, Chookie, letahl, Webbie, misstrance, wax, nicknack, pinkhelmet, fazz and Keith, it was great talking to you all, i would have fallen asleep through Pete Tongs set if it wasn't for you guys
Jace and Gilimster, nice to finally meet you, although we didn't get to talk much, i'll see you guys at ANOT
The shirts looked great Nixter! Good to see the TA crew out in force, i had people coming up to me all night asking me what it meant, and every 15 minutes i'd meet a new TA
dj_helen_k, you are a little....wierd
but great chatting with you about soccer, europe and binary finary!
PVDsANGEL and Oztiesto nice meet you guys, thanks for coming up from Canberra. (Who was the other guy from Canberra? 2 hours sleep isn't good for the memory
)
I hope the pics turn out well Erratik, nice chatting with you
Tranceforma, glad your friends coerced you into buying those tiesto tickets! :P
Tranzmit, good to talk to you on the dancefloor
syber_fish / chris: you have got to start posting on the forums you damn T.I.T
Rahvin, good to see my first of many TO-TA's, you will fit in with us aussie TA's well, don't miss the next A Night of Trance where we can have a decent conversation
^^ gawd i think thats all of them
omg nearly forgot Sid!! You were going off mate! definately a night for the "archives"
ok review comes next
edit: Matt P and Aquagen, i didn't forget you two (well yes i did) good talking to you guys
edit 2: starsurfer, but you dont really count, i gave you props on Trancetribe
Well Tiksa, you will be happy to know that Tiesto's set was Great Trackwise! He played half the songs on his new Just Be album, and a few of his classics.
Cons:
1. It was waay too overcrowded, no one could dance, i could barely move my arms
2. Lighting effects? Where were they? There were a few 75 Watt iridescent light bulbs strategically placed around the dancefloor to keep us happy
. And a strobe to keep Webbie happy on the second floor
3. Pete Tongs "warmup" set nearly sent me to sleep, by the time Tiesto came on stage i was barely in the mood for dancing
4. I felt Tiesto lacked that godlike Charisma, i didn't experience any of the mystique that Tijs possessed at Mobile Home. This may be because there were no lighting effects / strobes / lasers / NOTHING and we saw his DJ booth constantly lit with that strategically placed 75 Watt light bulb
5. Being covered in other peoples sweat, note that this relates to Con number 1.
6. Traffic stopping halfway through was funny, and increased the excitement of the song, Adagio of Strings stopping right before the breakdown was..........
I was told this was Jumping Jacks fault?
Pros:
1. As you can see from my previous post i had a great time socialising with the whole TA Crew, this made my night
2. Radio 1's essential mix, how are you sydney it's been far too long, omg i love Pete Tongs voice
3. Urban Train
4. My total expenditure for the night was two dollars fifty
and that was on a Pepsi i purchased on the drive into Sydney
5. Spending two hours with nicknack and syber_fish working our way to the front and centre to get nicknacks Holland Soccer Jersey signed by the Man himself. We resorted to writing "PLEASE SIGN MY SHIRT" on one of the "MIX!" thingys that were handed out. Tiesto saw this, gave us this big cheesy grin and the thumbs up. He signed the shirt and held the back of the shirt which had "Tiesto" and "1" written on the back up to the crowd
fucking awesome Baz! You have got to frame that shirt and hang it up in the living room
As you can see Tiksa, most of my problems were related to the venue and not to Tiesto himself, i think you will have a blast up at Family

Tiesto did rock the place, but what was with taking the needle off the record halfway through Barbers Adagio for Strings? You could see Jumping Jack wanted to play but Tiesto didn't want to stop, and Tiesto kept pushing Jumping Jack out of the booth. Im assuming either Jumping Jack or one of the tech crew pulled the needle off. Tiesto wasn't happy about it and neither was the crowd. Whoever it was needs to be shot!!
Other tracks played:
Riley & Durrant - Candesco
Rank 1 - Breathing (breaks dub)
Tiesto was fantastic, and bot did I find myself and the gang a great seating area.
I didn't dance much as I have the flu, but it would have been way too hot and squashy down there anyway.
Loved the music, got the shits also with the end of the set, it really did just change the atmosphere of the whole place within seconds.
Great to see you all, I think I had chats with many of you as the night went on. Great to catch up Eddie and Helen! Thanks Lisa for getting my 2 records signed.
NO LASERS = NOT IMPRESSED
NO SILENCE = NOT IMPRESSED
Those are my only complaints and thoughts.
I will see most of you hopefully at the next ANOT.
Be good kiddies
afterburn - frat boy! 2nd trakc! omg!!!!!

OMG FRATTBOY!!! :O

was so hot in there and the crowd was impossible to move through...
great night and great set though
some tracks i remember:
Tiesto - Traffic (Montana 12" Re-Edit)
Tiesto - Lethal Industry

Jumping jack played:
1) George Hales - Spyder
2) Rapid Eye - Circa Forever
3) Havanah - Havanah
then i left
at the end of tiesto's set jumping jack was putting his first track on and getting in tiestos way, he unplugged tiesto's headphones and put his in and tiesto was like wtf... then for some reason accident or not JJ put the fader down while adagio for strings was on.. tiesto quckly put it up but had the shits so just stopped it and then walked away to his manager and the lights go saying stuff while pointing at JJ.. he was pissed... and JJ was dame rude .. tsk tsk
anyway great to see everyone out in force... great stuff!
also i think it was awsome how tiesto just kept playing.. he finished at like 6:15 or something when he was supposed to finish at 5:30
maybe that's why JJ had the shits
WTF? I can't believe all that crap about Jumping Jack who does he think he is you don't mess with the decks when worlds #1 dj is playing.
Welcome to the shitlist JJ.
That would have been so shit! Jumping Jack sounds like a tool, stopping Adagio For Strings in the middle of the track.
That would have been one of the highlights of the night, no? Until JJ stuffed it up that is...
in melbourne @ room it was the exact opposite, i think twice tiesto seemed to be winding down, the MC would say stuff like 'lets hear it for dj tiestooo', crowd would go wild...and then tiesto would just spin up again and everyone went crazy hahaa!
Fark thats awesome tracklist.
Fratty Boy

i was disappointed. for a 3hr set - the man was good, but not great. there were other factors too - crowd, house vibe, lack of lasers, etc. There were some massive moments though, where the crowd were in an absolute frenzy and that sound system... absolute class!
Dj Tiesto Ft Kirsty Hawkshaw & Josh Gabriel - Walking On Clouds
and yeah the pin skipping a few times (at least tiesto swapped to the other deck and continued the track), plus JJ cuttin Adagio short = GHEY!!!!! understood why he did it, but face the reality - people paid to see #1.
JJ dropped some massive tunes after Tiesto (circa forever wooo!!), got me back on the dance floor and moving again (of course a lot of people left when Tiesto finished) but i had to get home (got home eventually at 8am!).
anyways, thanks once again to the TA's.. you guys were the saviours for the night. Always a pleasure. Met Romp, Tathi, OzTiesto, nicknack, TranceTasman(?) too. Loved the shirts.. too bad we couldn't get everyone together for a massive pic. perhaps @ the next halcyon/ANOT
i'll post my pics soon.
ps. i loved the video screens though. particularly during Tong's set when he would drop a tune and the name of the track was displayed on the screens. not sure if they did that for tiesto's set (didn't stick around in the crowd long enough to find out -- after the first 30-60mins i couldn't breathe!).
absolutely fantastic night! was great to see all ta's out in force for this one, and although I was all over the place through the entire night, it rates up there with one of the best parties Ive been to! Production = Amazing, Crowd/atmosphere = thumping, Tiesto = Great stuff.
will write more later, absolutely scattered atm due to getting about 2 hours sleep and then getting up and going to work
Lol Sid, saw you getting boosted up somewhere during the last hour of the set. I think I got it on video hahaha
Well i'm about to leave home now... I just came on to check if anyone has added anything extra. SOunds like its gonna be a massive night... I will be taking photos tonight as well! TIESTO HERE I COME
well all up i was really surprised how into it everyone was! looking down watching the dancefloor was pretty cool sight.
went to the front for the beginning of tiesto but was way too squashy, cudnt breathe or dance so ended up staying to the side and walking round.
hahah everyone wearing the ta shirts - it was very cute --> but pity i didnt realise that was the go (obviously not a true ta-er yet :P)
all up i was really happy to hear all tiesto's tracks and rah - pole position sounded AMAZING with the club sound system omg~!!
was nice to hear lethal industry aswell and plenty others, i was happy to hear tong finishing up with touch me in the morning track which the camera guy taped us singing along
i walked away thinking was a good nite but armin@home still takes the cake
but still, i got a handshake from tiesto which was nice too
oh and its nice to see him willing to keep playing overtime even tho JJ was acting like a dick :P
anyways back to reality and my head hurts
it's all good rach, you were wearing black so you were IN! hahaha
oh yeah the camera guy with the curly hair, how funny was he?
- absolute class set
- typical tiesto style.
- loved every minute - great to see some of the TA's (always a pleasure to party with)
sorry about point form but my thinking capacity is limited to that at this very moment
thanks tiesto for your signed headphones
tunes that blew the roof for me : Nyana, Suburban Train, Fratty Boy !!
top top night, definitly one for the books !!!
Pete Tong ripped it as well.. you can tell this is a man who has complete respect in the industry, selecting the finest and freshest tunes.. thumbs up!
