Talking Who loves Air Nightclub, Birmingham?

Was wondering what all u trance addicts who live near brum think of Air Nightclub in Birmingham, personally i love it - with Godskitchen in-house each month and armin with a residency aswell as a host of other wiked DJ's (Above and beyond played a month back which i missed :/ ) its wiked to have a club in the centre of the UK (Midlands) that has so many good Dj's.

I live in Worcestershire so its less than a 40min drive there (my mate usually drives cause he can hak drivin bak at 6am) parkup in either the clubs carpark or a nearby one (which cost over 12 for 8 hrs but fukit) and go to a bar b4 the club opens at 10.

Might be going to see sash and Jon o'bir on the 14th of this month - nicenice - daeus

I LOVE IT!!! Well I love GodsKitchen anyway!! It just hits you how great it is as soon as you walk in the door! Its a bit of a treck for me especially as I cant drive but I cant think of anything more worthy!!!!

its pretty good, i enjoyed many a night there at Code and i like the new Air but now its a bit shit coz they dont have HH evertime in the nitro room. it used to be good coz hardhouse people always warmed up with trance which is better than sat listening to tech house in the main room.

also the fact gods wants to stay a commercial club means its had to diversify big time, and this means less nights to put on new trance talent, which basically means its lineups have become stale if you want trance.

anyway, the scen isnt how it used to be and i doubt ill ever go to gods again unless they put on some new trance dj's i havent see nand want to see.

tech house? lol what night was that?

You can't have HH when you have someone like Sasha in the main room, its ridiculous.

If you want trance week in week out your right, clubs cant survive on it anymore.. diversification is the future, imo

the warmup guy, i cant remember his name, warms up shitload now (not jon obir the other one) and i didnt say have it all the time but they have techno or breaks in there most of the time, all more housey genres when theres already a funky room. yeh maybe have techno but why not have breaks i nthe funky room and ditch funky house for once.

You mean James Algate? He only warms up for house djs.. and he doesn't play alot of tech-house.
The whole trance/HH/Funky thing has been done to death and its boring. There wasn't funky house in the lounge friday when morillo was on either..

How are techno and breaks "more housey genres" i don't really get that?

yeah, his usual hard trance stuff with some tech-trance thrown in, why what would you expect to be played before sasha?

Posted by daeus on May-05-2004 22:29:

Yea i havnt really listened to any sasha live, only listened to some of his singles abit so this is gonna be interesting, does he play faster trance then? he's got no demo sets on his site - daeus

ffs, it wasnt such a stupid question you know...the boy plays trance. he even admitted it was going to be hard for him to warm up for markus schulz when he played so i imagine this would be quite a challenge.

they shouldve stuck to putting in a proper warm up for sasha

no he plays progressive house..on the more trancey/melodic side, and expect quite a few electro tracks thrown in + some progressive breaks.

Serious question, hope I don't interupt your thread guys

So I basically have the choice of seeing Ferry @ Slinky Bournemouth while I'm in the UK, or Mauro/Ricky Effe @ GK Air. Though I've never seen Mauro and seen Ferry multiple times, I'm really tempted to go to see him just for the venue, as I've heard it's the best in the UK. Any advice? Any help would be much appreciated

And if anyone is heading to either of these shows and wants to meet up (I know, it's Vandit night too ) I'd love to do that as well.

depends where your located. if your right beside bournemouth..ie, right down the bottom of England, then go to slinky. otherwise, itl be a long journey for nothing that special, and so id go to Air. the club is indeed very good, but i wouldnt say its the best in the country. plus youve never seen mauro, and hes playing with ricky f live, after a return to gods after aaaages..id go to Air.

Tbh most of the sets i've heard of him lately have been fairly proggy, even playing some breaks now and again.

On a serious note, I expect him to play some prog breaks/deep/tech house, basically a bit of variety and quite dark. I don't think you can really knock the lad until you have heard him warm up for Sasha.

Spin Doctor: No idea who was playing then, because if it wasn't Jon it must have been Chris Turner and he doesn't often play there.. Or could have been Petrae?

Posted by svens_bath on May-06-2004 23:12:

fair dues, it must be a great experience to warm up for sasha. would be intesreting to hear his set.
